'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

So far @The Critic has been 2 for two: AM water pump warbles as predicted, and KYB struts came in today - one is sticking (won’t retract without force applied), and the other one takes virtually no force to compress and leaves a fluid film on the shaft every time it retract (these are going back...

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

thank you for suggestion on the links. I've ordered new OEM links, rubber boots on the olds ones were torn so was planning to change them anyways. the method in the video is a bit sketchy to me. while it certainly worked, there's too many thing that can go wrong, from getting injured to...

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

Ordered KYB struts and all Honda hardware (bearing, mount, bumper stops and all rubber parts). I’ve also ordered new axle nuts assuming I’ll have to remove the knuckle, but not sure if it’s necessary. I can’t seem to find the manual for struts replacement, just a couple of videos online. If...

Go to Europe for a few weeks and maintain same diet. I bet you’ll see 10-15 lbs disappear. Even “healthy” food is not healthy here

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

Well, I haven’t done strut/shock replacement in the past, so can’t say I’m comfortable with either whole assembly or rebuilding. I plan on keeping this car for another 2-3 yrs/~30k miles, so trying to make it cost effective. Can aftermarket whole strut assembly provide reasonable ride...

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

Thank you for the comments. I’m looking to get all OEM parts with exception of the struts (KYB). There’s 160$ difference between the two, so I’m not sure if OEM strut will be superior to KYB?

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

Honda doesn’t sell the complete unit, so the poster just list all the components that go into the assembly. A bit confused about what you don’t recommend - re-using the springs? And rubber boot, do you mean the dust cover or bump stop? Both dust boots are in a good shape, but can’t see the...

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

89k. Right from is leaking, so I’m replacing the shock absorber/strut (KYB) and re-using the springs. What are you referring to as a whole replacement?

i was thinking the same and have 4 and 12 added to the cart. Does upper spring seat (11) needs replacement as well?

'16 Honda Pilot Front struts replacement

I'm planning for front struts replacement (passenger side leaking) and plan on getting the struts and reusing the original coil springs. I know that shock absorber mount (9) and the bearing (14) are always recommended to be replaced. Any other strut assembly components are recommended to be...

'16 Pilot - Timing belt replacement questions

@The Critic I remember you mention somewhere that Aisin kit tend to produce “warbling” noise. Is that sort of like rhythmic purring sound on idle? I do believe that I’m hearing something similar. So far 200 miles driven after the job with no ill effects

Could you recommend a decent spring compressor that would work in Honda pilot application?

'16 Pilot - Timing belt replacement questions

I was looking at the old idler pulley, and it looks as if it can be accidentally installed “backwards”, at least the bolt fits in both directions (tight if installed backwards but still fits). Has this ever happened to anyone? Would it even worked if installed that way?

'16 Pilot - Timing belt replacement questions

Thank you! Although I still am a bit overwhelmed. Car seems to be working fine, 50 miles after the job, runs and drives well, steady idle, no DTC or misfires. Sounds good idling but seems like slightly different. I’ve followed all the steps as per manual with all the torque values etc honored...

'16 Pilot - Timing belt replacement questions

As expected, I'm very sore today. Huge respect to mechanics that do this on a daily basis. Anyhow, here are some notes from the yesterday's adventure. 1. As many suggested, I've started off by breaking the crank bolt loose. Very uneventful, two hits with the Milwaukee high torque impact paired...
