Powerstroke 6.7L oil drain-back concern; filter?

I never said Dave didn’t put new gaskets in, but the engines he gets in for repair I bet quite a few have hardened gaskets. Also it isn’t known what gasket he put in or a mistake wasn’t made. You have no more idea than I do. I didn’t bring thst aspect up, you did. I went to ebay to look at...

Powerstroke 6.7L oil drain-back concern; filter?

Everything I said was correct. The small common section of gasket separates the in and out to the oil filter. The housing might seep a little on the block also, not gush, but not if just the common section leaks. Some adapters have a separate block gasket, this one doesn’t. Search ebay for used...

Powerstroke 6.7L oil drain-back concern; filter?

It could be this oil filter adapter gasket fails, which acts like a leaky adbv or oil bypass. This one is for the engine they are working on.

    Purolator Pureone PL15315; 3k miles

I looked it up on Amazon, looks the same. They use the black glue, but on plastic not metal. The metal caps may be oily or something from production, not washed properly, and why we see end cap poppers. Really nice filter.

    New M1 Oil Filters

If Mobil did their testing, which I am pretty sure they did, it should be a good filter. They selected a black base gasket, which is probably not silicone. Maybe to not change too much for no reason, when the black ones were not a problem. Another reason for them to switch is price. MH may not...

Powerstroke 6.7L oil drain-back concern; filter?

It functions just like a u trap. That was the context here. I can tell you from experience of being on the roof clearing the vent pipe that the kitchen sink does not drain if the vent is fully sealed. Sometimes air from the sewer pipe will make its way up and there are glugs of air so the sink...

AC Delco PF63 QC issue… Thoughts?

I like the old design, the ecore, better. I used one on an older vehicle. Oil pressure went up fast and there were no issues. I have one more left. It has the combo bypass/ adbv. Some don’t like the valve. It seems like it was a good invention to me. All one piece rubber, very simple and...

AC Delco PF63 QC issue… Thoughts?

It can achieve AABV status even with a knock or vibration. There is no center holding. I don’t think anything as bad as this has been accomplished before. Shown Delco may have the gap have to look at it with a light.

Powerstroke 6.7L oil drain-back concern; filter?

There is a pipe coming in and one going out of the filter mount. There are gaskets preventing the two sides mixing coming in and out. Or the mount is cast into the block with the in- out pipes apart. It is like a u trap in operation. There is a big oil pump with precise small gaps that the oil...

AC Delco PF63 QC issue… Thoughts?

Look at the gap at the edge of the holes on the Fram shown. The topic filter may or may not have it. I saw it on my Fram and ST 3614 so it isn’t rare. This is a new design..

AC Delco PF63 QC issue… Thoughts?

Perfectly fine? Look at the picture of the adbv in this thread. I bought one PH3614 the same as his picture, and a Supertech I just got from Walmart last week with the new design, has the adbv not sealing. These shouldn’t be sold. There is no adbv function. Besides other issues of quality inside...

AC Delco PF63 QC issue… Thoughts?

The others might be ecore, different base holes and combo bypass valve. The kind you show, Fram new design, should be taken off the market.

    How to tax EVs

I wonder what causes it because the tax isn’t a big part. I suppose the internet knows. I see no reason to whine it doesn’t change it. You are welcome to pave your own roads you use with your own materials in place of the 45 cents per gal or whatever it is. Of course you can’t possibly pave the...

Powerstroke 6.7L oil drain-back concern; filter?

Unless an oring is bad on the oil filter adapter or further down, the oil filter and lower pipes aren’t vented and stay full. The filter always stays full, it’s like a u trap. An adbv helps keep the oil above the filter from draining. I doubt the bearings are being damaged by oil starvation...

    How to tax EVs

Calif charges registration on value. A new car you pay a lot, then it tapers down over ten years or something and levels off. Right now like about $150. If you put a camper shell on your pickup it can be registered like a car. If open bed it has to be a commercial vehicle, which is a little...

Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

It will switch back and forth over the next years. The ev incentive has already done a lot to get people to notice and like electric propulsion, and advance tech for electric. Maybe some don’t like it and some do, that’s their choice.

You can safely use the F1, can’t see a reason why not unless it sticks out too far. Your parts dealer may have other opinions.
