    Gosun solar ev cover

I do use my garage charger right now. $3k is not a ton of money from my perspective and I like the idea. Agree that paint scratching might be an issue. Might have to put some pads or something on the back side, if they haven't thought of that.

    Gosun solar ev cover

I have one of these on preorder. It charges up to 30 miles per day. With a commute of 200 miles per week, that'll cover the majority of my needs, even if it's only 15 miles per day. I like the integrated LiFePO4 battery and the outlets. I'm expecting to plug in only about twice a month...

    Why I bought Rivian stock

It's been rough. We'll see if this parts shortage thing is actually a cover story for low demand. Good thing I only put a few thousand in. Seriously though, who would pick a $100k Cybertruck over a $70k Rivian?

    Purchased a 2011 Nissan Leaf!

That's right, send it down the rainbow road to Valhalla.

EV charging example costs more than it would to fill up a premium fuel car

What's interesting about those charging rate graphs is the so-called "Partial Peak" from 9pm to midnight. That's not because demand is high, it's because solar output is low. You wouldn't demand is higher in the middle of the night. TLDR "partial peak" is a misnomer.

My friend bought a new Cybertruck

There's an article out about a moron contractor who's saving $20k per year in fuel with a Cybertruck. It's like, yeah, you could do that. Or you could not drive a Dodge Ram that gets 9 mpg...

    Why I bought Rivian stock

I'm expecting the catalyst to be the gross profit announcement.

    Why I bought Rivian stock

I'm no technical trader but it looks like the bottom is firmly in for RIVN, over nearly 2 years now. Add in these facts: - They expect gross profit in Q4 - Production costs are coming down, everything is being simplified - They're using LFP batteries - Most (every?) other EV truck...

I DC Fast charged for the first time today

We've had 3 EVs now and still never fast-charged. Probably should try it some time.

Observed EV tax credit market distortion

I think you're splitting hairs. An 80% deduction!? Come on. An old industry like oil and gas doesn't need that.

Observed EV tax credit market distortion

"The oldest, known as “intangible drilling costs,” was created by the Revenue Act of 1913 and was aimed at encouraging the development of U.S. resources. The deduction allows companies to write off as much as 80 percent of the costs of drilling, things like employee wages and survey work, in the...

Observed EV tax credit market distortion

"His new budget proposal calls for the elimination of $35 billion in tax breaks that would otherwise be provided to the industry over the next decade." https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/15/climate/tax-breaks-oil-gas-us.html

Observed EV tax credit market distortion

You're cherry-picking the worst traits of EVs while ignoring the things they already excel at. Convenience, acceleration, low maintenance, fuel savings, structural rigidity, reduced emissions. I could get into how a large number of large batteries connected to the grid could actually be a...

Honda Prologue - the Better Blazer EV

Circling way back to this in post #7, I don't think there's any reason to say Tesla batteries last longer than GM batteries. The Volt batteries were known for their longevity.

    2025 Nissan Leaf S for $22500

The Leaf has the worst battery life of all EVs. It would probably do alright for 10 years though.

Mainstream brand EVs surpass Tesla in customer appeal

Tesla Q2 has a 45 percent drop in profits

It's true that more and more decent EV competitors are arriving, but you have to remember they are ALL selling at a loss in the USA except Tesla. They need to, to be competitive. That's pretty amazing to think about. I'm not sure where Tesla stock is going to end up. It depends so much on the...

    Lifetime warranty batteries emerge

I'm pretty sure the American manufacturers could do this too. Tesla and GM have even said they're close to it. But, they know there are a bunch of cheap nut jobs out there who would buy one then hold onto it for 30 years, lost forever as a customer. Hey, I'm one of those cheap nut jobs.

    Lifetime warranty batteries emerge

I don't see anything about 15 years in the MG announcement. Just "lifetime".

    Lifetime warranty batteries emerge

MG (a Chinese brand) has a lifetime warranty now. CATL is out with a million-mile warranty. https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.arenaev.com/electric_buses_and_trucks_get_catls_new_15_million_km_battery-amp-3367.php
