No Pablo, no tests done. I am starting to think along the same lines that you are. There may be a crack somewhere. I had the head tested and machined so it's not that, maybe in the block somewhere.

Yes jetman, ever since the last head gasket was changed, oil usage has increased. Still runs good though.

It may have to do with the new Dimple hemi-powered magnetic oil drain plug, we will have to see.

How do you account for the low metal wear (except iron)? I believe the high iron content is elemental iron in solution and doesn't really cause any harm. then again, 20 parts per million is not catastrophic.

Thankyou Oliveoil2, original rings still motoring on and the valve guides were good, they changed the valve seals and trued up the head surface. the engine runs smoothly with good power so the compression was not done.

The Dimple magnetic oil drain plug on the left shows a small amount of metal, while the one on the right is brand new for comparison The Dimple is of a new hemispherical construction, giving it a greater surface area then the older flat magnet. I guess you could say it is hemi powered.

Look into the Dimple magnetic oil drain plug. It is more powerful and is less prone to chipping.

The original engine now has close to 636,000 miles, how many engine even make it that far? And if they did, how much oil would they use. Did you know that it is considered normal for some new engines to use a quart per thousand miles? So I don't think 2 qts over 6,000 miles is too excessive.

I kept my speed between 65 and 70 mph, traffic allowing. I ran with a tail wind all the way to West Palm Beach. The return leg was the opposite, just not as strong as the tail wind. Some years ago, I drove from Eurica Springs, AR all the way to Nashville, TN some 504 miles and used only 10...

I just returned from a trip to Florida. The Civic even with its "toasty" engine averaged 48.9 mpg going there and 42.9 on the return. 45.9 mpg overall. (635,000)

Artem, I had considered a run without the magnets, but decided against it. I will post a photo of the magnetic oil drain plug next oil change. There is very little metal on it, kind of like a metallic paste.

The results of my little experiment is 1. the oil was too dirty to do particle counts 2. aluminum met the universal average at 4ppm 3. chromium also met the UA at 1 ppm 3. iron was slightly elevated at 27 ppm (UA is 9 ppm) I have had iron as high as 43 ppm, but normally it runs 15 ppm or so. 4...

Itslimjim, It looks like the Filtermag MC (motorcycle) only comes in the medium size. Can your FIT accept the larger Amsoil Ea15k20 oil filter? If so, you can use the Filtermag MC300 filters.
