    Home HVAC filters

I've been running the cheapest MERV 8 I can find for many years now. When I first bought my house, I ran a higher MERV, but it seemed to restrictive. MERV 8 has been a good balance for me with allergies, price, and restrictiveness. My furnace/ac is a 25 YO Goodman system.

    600 Mile Kawasaki (Denso) 16097-0008 C&P

Looks to be a pretty decent little filter, thanks for the C&P. My Kawasaki STX15f runs pretty much the same filter. I want to say a few years the manufacturer or build may have been a bit different. I remember buying an OEM Kawasaki filter for my jet ski and thinking, "What a POS filter." Felt...

    AC Delco PF66 (Champ) C&P

Thanks for the C&P. This is the same filter that goes on my '23 Blazer w/ the 2.0L. Looks to be well constructed, but I really wish it had a silicone ADBV and a metal crimp rather than glued. I've been pretty conflicted on running the PF66 or something else. Some C&Ps look great, others look...

    Closeout CarQuest Filters

Ha! I wish, I’ll be doing another order in probably a year 😂

    Closeout CarQuest Filters

I paid $8 for shipping, all in about $23, so a bit more than just $2 a filter, well worth it though.

    Closeout CarQuest Filters

I’ve ordered from RockAuto at least 20 times, but I am always a little hesitant on the closeouts. I am no more! I got 8 beautiful CarQuest Premium filters for $1-2 a piece. They are all PG made filters that I would run in a heart beat.

2025 Toyota RAV4 XLE non hybrid factory fill oil samples

That’s a lot of Moly, I run the same in my Camry. Looks to be breaking in well.

PENNZOIL PZ-37, 600 miles CUT OPEN

Looks like a pretty well built jobber filter. I saw a similar one opened up on Crazy Bill’s Garage on YT. Looks exactly the same as the Parts Plus filters I can get around me. PG made, in Vietnam no less. If I was going to open a quick change shop, these would be in the run for my filter of...

'Tis the season - dead lawn mower batteries

Battery is shot. Internal resistance is through the roof. I’ve got a battery on my zero turn that I resurrected from the dead and now have the cheapest tender I could find at Menards on it. It has a quick connect, I just plug it in at the end of the season. Went from a new battery every year to...

PROTEC PXL 51358, 9,500k cut open

Looks like a decently build little jobber filter. Great pics, as always, thanks!

    Another good looking PG, thanks!

    Carquest Premium 84356 C&P 6303 oci

Thanks for the info! I’m unfamiliar with the p style. Do you just tighten until base plate meets oil filter housing or just as tight as you can with your hands?

    Carquest Premium 84356 C&P 6303 oci

How do you like the flat gasket compared to the p shaped ones? Good pics! Just picked up a few, hence the desire to find pics of them to give me peace of mind 😂

Delco PF63 nylon center core defects

Well, that helps me decide against using the similar PF66. Thanks for the pics!

2023 Blazer - Pick my filter

Update, it looks like now they are saying it is a correct fitment and can be used. However, they say it isn't in their parts catalogue, even though it is.

2023 Blazer - Pick my filter

I have no clue, I think they got it all wrong on my inquiry. They were saying the UPF66R should only be used on the V6 Blazer, which is wrong. It should be the UPF63R. I'm going to email them back and see what they say about it.

2023 Blazer - Pick my filter

I see where you are coming. IMO, I trust the PG made filters more than the PF66 at the moment. Looks like Champ is still having some issues with their bypass leaf springs. I will probably stick with ACDelco until warranty expires or a really good deal on PG filters comes up.

2023 Blazer - Pick my filter

My OCI will be 4-5k miles. The UPF66R looks like a good filter. I emailed GM and asked about it and they said the bypass PSI was too high.

New Castrol gold jug spotted in the wild

For the 5w30, not as much IMO. I think having the Dexos1 Gen3 ratings and the MB 229.71 rating for the 0w20 is pretty nice. I don't think there's another oil on the market in 0w20 with both, but I may be wrong.
