Yeah, it won’t run any differently. It will just have significantly more viscosity ‘overhead’ to protect the bearings and deal with some fuel dilution etc.

The phasers don’t care. They operate just fine as the oil warms up and they are a closed-loop system, ie they can adapt to different oils etc.

Which rail? This engine has low pressure and high pressure fuel systems, and switches between (and blends) them depending on engine speed and load. This is highly likely to be an ignition issue (coils or plugs) and unlikely to be a fuel issue, based on your explanation of its behaviour.

VVT helps here. It will make up for this, to a certain point.

I would 100% run a 5W-30

Drain the old fuel and add fresh fuel. Drain the oil and replace the oil filter, replace the oil. Pull the injector connectors (disconnect the electrical side of the injectors) and crank it for several seconds to build oil pressure and get oil on everything. Then reconnect and fire it up.

I recommend Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 in these engines. They are notorious for sticking piston rings and burning oil, so the Restore and Protect really helps. I use it in heaps of Volvos and they love it.

Envision is on GM’s own platform. MG doesn’t use GM platforms.
