2016 BMW 535d back in shop - coolant leak

Haven't heard back from the shop yet, but wherever the leak was originating from, it sprayed upward and soaked the under-side of the plastic engine cover. Based on where the engine cover was soaked with coolant, I'm guessing it's the oil filter housing. We'll see.

2016 BMW 535d back in shop - coolant leak

Starting this thread mostly to note anything interesting the shop might find. I was heading in to the office this morning and as I was pulling in, the "add coolant" light came on. No big deal, as it came on one other time since I bought the car in 2023, and just needed a tiny bit to top up. I...

    Needles,Ca under pass video

:ROFLMAO: We had an underpass like that in the small town where I grew up. It claimed many a U-Haul truck and the occasional 18 wheeler.

    need a mechanic, Hermitage TN

Mark's Automotive Repair Center in Old Hickory gets good reviews. But they're probably like most places which won't install customer supplied parts..

Euro specialized indy-mechanics all seem to use LiquiMoly?

They can't beat the WalMart price of $26.44 per 5 quart jug for Euro L. Edit: just checked WalMart's website and Euro L is out of stock. I may go with Mobil 1 ESP for my next oil change. $27.97/ 5 qt.

Euro specialized indy-mechanics all seem to use LiquiMoly?

LiquiMoly makes a fine oil for my 535d, but it's almost twice the price of the Pennzoil Euro L with the same BMW LL-04 spec. so...

    United Airlines 747 Sendoff

Magnificent planes. We get a few of the 747 cargo planes landing at HSV every week. It's amazing to watch them take off and land.

Cooked wall switch... Scary. Please come in...

If you decide to pigtail, give the Wago 221 3-wire or 5-wire connectors a try. In my experience they are easier to use than wire nuts.

    Ignoring CEL

I drove my old VW GTI with the CEL on for over 250K miles. It had a secondary air injection fault code that I couldn't have cared less about.

Poor little CVT! Change your fluid!

Same with my son. He knows how to do a few things in theory but just has no interest in actually turning a wrench. I did go through the process of changing a flat tire on his Jeep with him in case he ever needs to do that.

If you have a best friend enjoy your time with them before you lose them.

Every "best friend" I ever had is now either distant or departed. The older I've gotten the more I'm OK with not having close friends. I have one former co-worker where he and I followed each other to/from several jobs over the last 20 years that I meet up with several times a year for lunch but...

Another F-18 lost in the Red Sea…

When a US military plane goes into the sea for any reason, what happens to it? Do we recover it, or does the sea claim it?
