Have you seen the insides of a Fram Ultra? I'm a FRAM OCOD hater myself but the Ultra is a fine well build wire backed synthetic media filter with metal end caps and with great filtering specs and I do use them, id take a FRAM Ultra over a WIX any day!!!!

Yes there filtering tiny metallic wear particles so these small filters work just fine, I just changed mine on my G730 Hydro gear and cut it open, looked fine like new and that had 200ish hrs.

Yes you can use the 15w50 it works great has high amounts of zinc many people use it, I use it all the time in my G730 , these trans axles run hot a synthetic is a must IMO.
