It’s the 1990’s: what motor oil and grade are you using?

I used mostly Mobil 1 5w30 in my 1990 Pontiac Sunbird 2.0, and then the same in my 1993 Jeep Wrangler 2.5. I think I mostly used Fram filters.

    Whats so great about Jeeps?

The folding windshield is pretty cool. I´ve done it a number of times with my 2018 JL. Just be prepared to pick bugs out of your teeth and don´t go too fast or get behind other vehicles. Oh...wear some motorcycle glasses/goggles, too. LOL.

Where to get a new magnetic oil plug?

Gold plug is just fine. I have both Votex and Gold Plug and from the way it sticks to the oil pan, I can´t tell a difference in the strength of the magnet.

Any experience with Spectrum for internet?

Yep. I´ve had them for 2 years and they´ve been great. Only a couple of outages and they did not last long. They communicated very well, too, with text messages when that has happened. The speed is faster than they advertise. I´ve got their basic deal and I have had 3 TV´s streaming and an...

Was your brother a pro photographer, or just there for the race? Btw, those two cars had two of the best Indycar paint jobs, ever.

I´m watching a classic....the full broadcast of the 1982 Indy 500. So much went on in that one, from the crazy start with Kevin Kogan crashing to AJ Foyt banging on his transmission with a hammer, to Gordon Johncock and Rick Mears dueling it out for a photo finish. Truly a great one! I will...

It wasn't modified after tech inspection. It was modified before and the first car passed, as both did the day before. They had tools to undo it to try to go back through tech again, which is normal and common when cars are found to fail tech. Last year or the year before, 2 McLarens we're...

Well, it is a good question. I can´t think of one. I will say this...I watch F1 because I do enjoy the tech. But even they have become more spec. There are fewer engine manufacturers now and satellite teams are using parts from the main teams. And the innovation has reached the point where...

Not surprised at all. From inside...Penske had issued warnings after last year that the integrity of the team will not be compromised and that people would be fired if it happened again. So I don't think any of those guys are surprised, either...unless what Helio says is true. He said he...

Yep! Actually grew up in Speedway, in spitting distance of turn 4! I once rode the Mag-lev train in Shanghai. I am pretty sure it hit north of 250mph. It was smooth as butter and pretty quiet. We hit a bird and it went "poof!" Lol. Funny, though. The top F1 drivers say they are...

    Pentastar Owners! Any oil usage?

Two Pentastars, one with over 100k and the other at 58k. No usage at all. My cousin has a 2018 JK with the gen 1 Pentastar and his is using a little bit of oil, but he's also got the infamous oil cooler housing leak. Not sure how much that lets go, but it could explain at least some of it.

    Official 2025 Indy 500 Thread

Here is a fun old story that I got from a pretty good source, so I believe it is true. The year Scott Brayton got the pole....they found out later that they had rigged the popoff valve. Word is that the car sailed through the trap at 252 mph. So USAC gave them a faulty popoff valve for the...

It is only fair if they do this to other teams. Technical violations from tech inspection happen frequently with most, if not all teams. This one is getting blown up because of the big cheating deal last year. Is that fair? I think so. They got busted, red handed last year. So they are...
