I managed to find a very good deal on a Castrol Magnatec C3 5w30 in the end. Local shop to me as well which was convenient so I went with that. Sounds like they are pretty unbothered cars though so it's good to know I can likely pair it up with my 0w40 that I buy for my old Peugeot 306 as well...

It's a manual yeah. Tiny little thing. Got 36,000 miles on it currently. Was owned by a little old lady before and kept in a garage all its life. 🙂 First thing I predict will need doing is the clutch. 🤣

Hi all! 🙂 It's coming up to my sisters service on her 1.0 Peugeot 108. It has a little 3 cylinder engine with a timing chain and standard port injection. If I put her number plate in on "what oil for my car" websites they almost always come up with 0w30, with them sometimes suggesting 10w-40...

An oil like this would likely be very good then. It has a 40w rather than 30w. It has a BMW LL approval, and a MB 229.51 approval. Sounds likely this would be one of the better options for timing chain wear prone engines. *Edit* - Added link to the oil that I was talking to about when I said...

Is the N20 a petrol engine? From what I can see with this advice then a LL-04 oil would be best for a diesel engine that suffers chain wear?

Because it's an overall kind of question. There are various makes and brands in the UK and Europe that suffer with chain issues. If someone I know ends up with one of those cars it's good to know what may help them out to keep their chain good. 😀

Yeah I agree. I was thinking it was probably a detail that has lingered in their documents for years and no one has ever removed it. Filters are readily available for the vehicle so it's not like they are hard to come by. 😂

I have left the ones out with less than 20 oil changes as the chart became a total mess with all the tiny slithers of the pie.

I don't think there are many cars out there that don't have pressurized expansion tanks these days. Every car I've owned (produced between 1999 and 2018 have all had pressurized tanks. (Jaguar, Ford, Vauxhall, VW, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo).
