This is a rental car rant

I used to rent from Enterprise and had a great experience with them. Rented "full size" Camrys mostly. I was upgraded to a convertible Mustang in December to travel through Indiana and Ohio. That was a mistake on my part. But otherwise, never had an "classification" issue. The car I reserved was...

    Best Aftermarket Steering/Suspension Component Brand???

I have been severely disappointed in Moog when I did the same for my old CRV. Replaced all front end components in one shot. 6 months later it wouldn't pass inspection due to a failed ball joint. A year later, tie rod ends, even with regular greasing. I hope Mevotech is better (ball joints are...

Rebuilt and sort of re-engineered Dirty Hands Splitter

Wow are you a commercial operation? That's a lot of wood to split! I think the larger tank will help slow the heat build-up, but once hot, you may have the same issue. Any chance you could rig a hydraulic cooler to this? Maybe something plumbed back into the return line scavenged from an old...

How much difference does oil really make?

For me, its the little extra. I exclusively use Amsoil Euro in my wife's Atlas. That car is rode hard and put away wet. So anything that helps the engine stay lubed and cool is a benefit to us. But I do this also to prevent engine degradation more so than total failure. As others has stated...

Rear view mirror takes some glass with it - GMT800

I feel like its just as simple as chip repair. You should be able to use the windshield chip repair kit (Permatex)? I fixed a chip on the wife's Beatle that had a chunk missing and it worked well. Repair the chip and glue on the puck after it sets.

3/4 Ton Gas vs Diesel vs Tundra

The older 5.7L Tundras were rock solid reliable, but not very easy on fuel. My uncle has one and a friend has bought them as work trucks. nothing to see 400k miles. But at 12mpg than can be tough. I daily my 2014 F250, gas truck. Its not terrible on gas and it rides OK. May father's a 2024...

Rust penetration in wheel well - water leaking interior?

I'm with the Admiral here. And don't Fluid Film first. It will cause the sealer to not adhere to the surrounding metal.

    200hr oci for kubota L2501?

That's funny, I never checked mine. I just assumed the hour meter was a an electric clock that ran when the key was on. It must be driven by the tach cable then. Which, btw, has been my only non-maintenance repair on my machine. For some reason the tach cables snap at the pump drive end every...

    200hr oci for kubota L2501?

I believe the fine print has "or annually" in it somewhere. You'd be surprised how few hours you accumulate. My L2501 has 465hrs and its a 2017. And I use it for my business. With that said, it gets an oil change and all filter change at least once a year.

Dog - Fever - Spinal Back Injury

Keep an eye on him and look for a 24hr vet hospital to have on hand if needed. We have our normal vet, and found a 24hr hospital nearby. As far as the fever, I'm not sure. Hoping your pup has a speedy recovery.

Liqui Moly Molygen 0w-20 or Castrol GTX Full Synthetic 0w-20 Cost doesn't matter

Well, I expect any day now that I may be called to perform some crazy Jason Statham stunts and all out Fast and Furious driving. And I want to be ready!

    PUP or VRP

Your truck is low mileage and not really an known oil burner, so I doubt you'll see much of a change with VRP. But the temptation is real. I did it on my truck with 30k on it. The oil came out nearly as clean as going in, but I got to experience the anecdotal side affects. Quieter running, a...

I was in the wrong and I don't care.

Was the top on the Jeep? A bikini top? Because the open atmosphere of the Jeep, by my definition, is much cleaner than an enclosed space. After all of the indoor air-quality reports I have seen, an open cab Jeep would be a Clean Air Champion!

    Backed into a curb

Tougher than that. It might have been a jolt when sitting in the seat, but I highly doubt you did any damage.

Cleaning the mustang that been sat outside for years .

If water was collecting inside you'll want to inspect the floors for rust too. Pulling the seats will allow you to replace the foam and seat covers. I'd give the wiring a close look as well.

Cleaning the engine bay very regularly is the best approach

I've never had any issues washing the engine bay carefully. But, I haven't had much time for that lately.

Hit a deer can it be fixed?

You can. I did on my CRV, but the damage was only about 10% of what you have. And they nearly totaled my car. However, the parts became a blackhole that I threw cash into. I was able to save all the body panels, do no painting and essentially only replaced my grill on the outside. Internally...
