When to change ATF/filter in 5.3

I generally do fluid every 50k and fluid/filter at every 100k. I tow quite a bit and the fluid always looks good. I could probably go closer to 75-100k but it makes me feel better. Cheapest Dex VI I can find (usually Supertech). Never had a trans problem ever.

    Real synthetic ??

You could use the cheapest Dexos 0w-20 available and run it for the full length of the OLM (which on the 5.3s is about ~7500 in ideal conditions) and get 300k plus out of that motor. What more are you looking for in a "true" synthetic?

    Best bluetooth speaker?

We have a Bose Mini Soundlink Color II. Hands down best speaker for sound output, sound quality, and price that I could find. The Soundlink Mini is a better speaker but the Color II sounds 9/10ths as good for $50 less. And it's waterproof.

echo srm-210 misfires and dies after 20 minutes

I had the same problem after a carb and fuel line change on my 210. Turns out I had the fuel supply and return lines backwards to the carb. Switched them and works like a charm now.

AC759 - 29ft from worst aviation crash in history

Astro, I'm struggling that you keep bringing up the Asiana crash. The NTSB final report say not one single thing about SFO ATC/NorCal approach operations. They were given a turn to final for 28L 14NM from the threshold and just slightly above glidepath, with instructions to maintain 180 to the...

    New 2017 silverado 5.3 v8 oil

It's been discussed previously. The DI 5.3s and 6.2s have variable displacement oil pumps. Floor it and watch your oil pressure jump sky high over about 3500rpm. It feeds the bearings adequately at higher speeds/loads. 0W-20 is all you need. Check out the UOA section. GoneFishin has some great...

    M1 effectiveness ...

Coworker just rolled 300k in his 2003 Corolla. M1 and Toyota filters on 10k intervals. Lots of highway miles ~60+ per day. I looked into the filler hole. Squeaky clean and hardly a hint of varnish. Said he uses about 1 quart every 10k.

Any HVAC guys in the house?

I just stepped up from a 2.5 10 SEER to a 3 ton 16 SEER. House is only ~1300sq/ft but very poorly/cheaply insulated. 2.5ton wouldn't keep up when heat went above 93. 3 ton was definitely the solution for us.

    FlyNavyP3 ??? P3 vs P8

On a side note, why no APB blended winglet? The industry has embraced them. 3% increase in efficiency/range. I assume the P-8's assignments keep it aloft for long durations, so I'm guessing the deletion has something to do with EW?

Q about 200k mi. issue on Odyssey

I'm surprised by those pics quite honestly. I thought it would be worse. I've seen VCM equipped J35s that ran synthetic for 6-7K intervals that looked worse than yours.

What makes dexos 'better' than SN?

https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3307062/Dexos_vs_ILSAC_charts Here. Green line is GF-5/SN. Blue line is Dexos 1. There are no 10w-30s that are Dexos rated. Of all the HM oils out there, M1 is at the top of my list along with Maxlife. Keep doing what you're doing.

    Conventional Motor Oil? Why?

Because my neighbor has 204K on her Honda Odyssey on lord knows how long intervals changed at the cheapest quickie lube place possible using conventional. Runs great, minimal consumption. That's why. Most of the synthetic users on this board don't need it either.

    XG7317 vs XG3539A Honda

7317s are the most identical to Honda's current A01/A02 line. 3593 is generally the older recommendation. TG7317 is a GREAT filter for the price for your Pilot especially if you follow the MM. No need for the XG unless you go longer. Your Accord probably still recommends the 3593 but if you were...
