Champ XL vs. "new" Fram Ultra?

I just got back from visiting the site also and couldn't find any performance specs. The BITOG link talks to a member contacting Champion Labs and getting the following information. "I was emailed back stating the PH2867XL is 99% at 20micron."

Champ XL vs. "new" Fram Ultra?

Hi Danny M, Here's the performance spec comparison of the Supertech Blue vs Champ XL vs Fram Tough Guard from the database in #62 above: ________________Eff - Micron - Life Miles - Pricing - Database Rating (lower is better) Supertech_____99%____30_____20,000_____$5.97 - #3 Champ...

Champ XL vs. "new" Fram Ultra?

The Champ XL performance specs line up exactly as a Fram Tough Guard at $7.17. If you can get one for under that price that is a great value!

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Good Morning Robvette, I put my trust in performance data that tests to ISO 4548-12 by certified equipment in labs that filter companies and private test labs use. Back in April 2015, ZeeOSix shared an excellent video of the type of equipment required to perform the test properly...

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Hi Overkill, Thank you for the detailed reply, I appreciate it. I recently put a Fram Ultra Synthetic on my engine and your last sentence reinforces that it will work well. If a synthetic filter performs well without wire backing, is the addition of wire backing used more as a selling feature...

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Good Afternoon Mewbs, Your comments are spot on. I made a table of the Fram products comparing price to performance and the Titanium is not only redundant but $3.52 more than the Ultra for the same performance (Filtration & Life). If you're a Tough Guard fan, its only $1.80 more to step up to...

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Help me understand why wire backing makes a filter better. I thought the metal or nylon center tube/cage provides the required support of the media.

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Good Morning Fantastic, I'm not aware of any Fram claims that their performance specs are across all filters because they use the average of three filters within the product line that are of different sizes. They make this statement on both their point of sale packaging and their website.

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Hi Fantastic, Help me understand why some on BITOG think Fram's performance claims are for all of their filters when their point of sale packaging and website use the following language stating an average, (example is for the Tough Guard product line) : "*FRAM Group testing of average filter...

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Thank you for sharing ZeeOSix. For perspective it's interesting how we're micro analyzing some Titaniums that have the wrong box through a running change use up and Purolator is wrong on every one on the shelf and continues to do so.

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Hi Fantastic, I'd like to trust Purolator but I can't. Its good you can request a spec sheet on a filter but what does it say about a company that on all their point of sale packaging and website they claim "based on ISO 4548-12 at 20 microns on PL30001" but if one requests a spec sheet they're...

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

Good Morning SC Maintenance, You are correct in that it is easy to get the boxes matched with the product provided the disposition of the old boxes is to scrap them. What we don't know is how many of the old boxes they would have had to scrap. Typically the purchased items in a BOM have an MOQ...

Fram Ultra, Titanium & Endurance now 98% at 20-30 microns ISO 4548-12

I appreciate the OPs pursuit of understanding of the specs and claims of the filters. I am impressed with how the Fram customer service associate conducted himself. A lot of questions were asked and the associate did an excellent job answering while also protecting the company's IP. The...

    Parts Store Oil Filter Choices

I'm with you on Fram filters. Their performance specs are excellent and their averaging method of measurement is good. I stay away from OEM filters because I cannot find performance specs for them (Efficiency @micron and life). Without specs its tough to calculate if I'm getting value and an OEM...
