Can I Run Euro Oil for 2 Years with Very Low Mileage?

Hey all, Just looking for some opinions or insights on oil change intervals when it comes to Euro-spec oils (like Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30, etc.) in a low-mileage situation. I barely drive my car — maybe 2,000 km (~1,200 miles) per year, mostly easy driving. I use a high-quality Euro 0W-30 oil that...

Where to take a Mercedes for an oil change when no MB dealer is nearby?

I always seem to miss something important when posting. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a top-side oil filter or an option for oil extraction. There are different configurations depending on the model and year, but sadly not this one. There's no dipstick either, which makes things more difficult...

Where to take a Mercedes for an oil change when no MB dealer is nearby?

Hey all, Looking for some advice here. I recently moved to a smaller city in Canada where there's no Mercedes-Benz dealer nearby. Back when I lived closer to one, I always took my MB in for oil changes and service there. But now, the closest dealership is too far for a simple oil change. I...

    M1 0W30 ESP vs. M1 5W30 ESP ?

Can anyone share their best guess on which of these oils might actually be the better option overall? In the past, I’ve mentioned that I assumed 5W-30 would generally be more shear stable than 0W-30, though I believe that was later clarified or proven otherwise. So when comparing these...

    M1 ESP 0W-30 vs M1 Euro/FS 0W-40

Thank you for the insight! When you mention "application," are you referring to the specific vehicle details? I’m trying to better understand if a product like ESP 0W-30 would be sufficient for my needs. I drive somewhat aggressively on the street, but I don’t track the car, and my oil...

    M1 ESP 0W-30 vs M1 Euro/FS 0W-40

Thank you, I really appreciate the information. The reason I didn’t mention the engine or use case is because I know a lot of people—myself included—are using these European-spec oils in vehicles that technically don’t require those approvals. Most American vehicles don’t need them, of course...

    M1 ESP 0W-30 vs M1 Euro/FS 0W-40

C'mon not even an ounce of discussion?

    M1 ESP 0W-30 vs M1 Euro/FS 0W-40

Hey everyone, I wanted to start a thread comparing Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 and Mobil 1 Euro/FS 0W-40, not tied to any specific vehicle, but more from a general performance and durability standpoint. From what I understand, M1 ESP 0W-30 has a relatively high HTHS for its grade and is known to be...

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

Thank you for the information. I don't mean to come across as argumentative, but I had a question regarding the ULSG (Ultra-Low Sulfur Gasoline) in North America. Wouldn't the presence of ULSG effectively make the MB 229.5 specification redundant? From what I understand, most modern AMG...

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

Thank you kindly for the information. As it turns out, ESP 0W-30 is actually on sale where I am—available for around $43 CAD—so that's definitely something to consider. I appreciate the point about shear stability; it makes sense, and with that in mind, perhaps M1 0W-40 may not be necessary...

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

I just noticed this—you're absolutely right. My original post was specifically about 229.5; I never mentioned 229.52. I believe the other poster was suggesting that 229.52 could be used interchangeably with 229.5, but I think that’s incorrect, and it seems you've already clarified that (You as...

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

I'm not sure how the discussion got off track, but I wanted to jump in and clarify why I started this thread in the first place! This was meant to be a comparison between two MB 229.5 oils. My engine is a 2019 Mercedes M176 — a twin-turbo V8. The owner’s manual specifies MB 229.52 or 229.61...

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I understand now — the specs are quite similar overall. PPE might have a slight edge in terms of performance, but both options are already strong, so either would be a solid, safe choice.

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

Thank you, good oil indeed however a bit out of my price range.

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

I also wanted to add that I went to Walmart and also saw Supertech Euro 5W40 with 229.5 Spec for only 28.88 CAD. Technically based on approval's I could also run that but would rather have the peace of mind of running M1 or Pennzoil. Lastly, I did not know Walmart Canada also stocked the M1...

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

Thank you for the input. However, wouldn’t M1 0W40 have a similar HTHS due to similar approvals, or was it determined that the PP has a higher value? I believe I read that M1 has a higher NOACK, though.

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

Yes CT, sorry I forgot to add that I won't be driving this in the winter. I know M1 is spoken well on the forum so I am leaning towards that but was curious if PP was maybe 'better'. With the PP rebate, the price is essentially the same.

M1 FS/EURO 0W-40 vs Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 - which would you run?

I’ve attached some photos to make the comparison easier. The approvals for both oils are mostly the same, and while there are a few differences, they don’t seem significant enough to matter for most vehicles. I've also included images showing the specifications and certifications of each oil...
