CAFE Standards Fines for Automakers Reduced to $0.00

They are going to be (lower case "C") conservative. No big changes except saving some $$$ cuz changing corporate budgets/planning are like driving oil tankers, and they want to see who wins in 2028.

Fram Endurance every other OCI vs Microgard Select every OCI on Hondas?

sorry to be "that guy".... but you need a bare minimum sample of 30. Preferably >100. Ideally 500. For fleets, it's a no-brainer to get a "scientific" answer. For Normies, we only have flame fights on the internet, unless someone is willing to start a new season of "Mythbusters"

Subaru now extending CVT warranty on nearly all 2019-2020 models now

I assume that the letter is what it says: extends the warranty; and if you read the warranty, it'll require maintenance per the manual. Now whether the dealer/Subaru district office will deny claims due to no maintenance documentation, one won't know until they make a claim

    Debit Card hacked

^^^That. everyone should have 2 (or more) checking accounts-. One bigger one that's rarely touched; one for getting cash as needed. Lots of free checking options----and many banks offer instant transfers with other banks. then use a credit card for most/all spending. it's a hassle but the...

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

    >>>Car ownership is more a necessity than a luxury for most of us. not looking for a flame fight on July 4 eve over mobility economics of all things with someone who isn't in the loop about anti-WEF sarcasm, lol..... yes, no S!!! having a car is a necessity. but for the bottom 15...

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

you're biggest competition is Uber, friend....unless you are in a very rural area. All the mandatory costs (insurance, plates, etc) is pushing people out of the market. even if it is something small as <10%, that is enough to break down the old ecosystem that made money. No good advice...

    Control arms, OEM vs aftermarket

(side note: control arms on a (owned since day 1) 2020 CRV needed replacement at 99,000 miles...but I attributed it to the roads and moonscape around me....it may also be Honda OEM penny-pinching. replaced with Moog, but it's only been 1,000 miles on the new arms) see what is the OEM price...

Anyone Here With A Reverse Mortgage

to avoid flooding this thread with doom, give them a typical cautionary warning. we are talking another tier of fine print....that makes a rental car agreement look like a PTA bake sale. report back if they seriously want to move to the next step, then Anons can flood the thread with specific...

Mazda 3 Mahle [ 2.75 in tall, chinese] filter cut open with Pics. Switch to a Hyundai filter?

    >>>If I'm not mistaken, a Fram 7317 is the oversize for Mazda engines. Correct, double check clearance if that 3 has a splash shield. On some Mazdas, there isn't much room for a longer filter.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Anything (Honda-Acura) w/the K24 engine b/c: pros: 1. K24 is reliable, good parts availability for everything else in the engine bay; 2. some years had bad transmissions....but at this point, any bad transmission has long since nuked itself; 3. any other failures (burned out radio display...

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

    >>>she might be pretty smart ... if she was able to play dumb and win $2,000,000 ... One of many "great filter" tests for intelligence/self-control, when a person gets a windfall. $2MM (whether before or after taxes, lawyer fees) sounds like a lot more than it is; and not that much for a...

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

Don't understand that thinking. Maybe someone can share the rationale. I always thought that my local Walmart (which hasn't been refurbished in years) just was as the bottom of the list for improvements---my 10-min drive radius is chock full of competition from every national and regional...

Cycling is good for the brain.

your brain is essentially a blob of blood vessels, organic electric wiring, and cholesterol (not the cholesterol in the form everyone harps about in TV ads). anything to grow those vessels is good. As long as your not sucking down dirty exhaust while doing it, lol
