    Oil change interval

I think the hint was that there is no "timer" on oxidation. It begins the moment oxygen first interacts with the oil, and continues at some %, changing slightly as the oil is heated/cooled/contaminated/sheared. The "slope of oxidation" is probably not linear due to all the variables involved...

    Metal in Engine Oil Break-in

I've been changing oil for over half a century. Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mini, Nissan, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Harley, Subaru, Mazda, Chevrolet, Ford, Volvo, Saab. I've always used a black catch-pan. I cannot recall a single time that I did not see at least some "sparkles" in the used oil each and every...

    Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40

Higher NOACK could theoretically lead to more intake valve deposits...as the mist of oil vapors in the crankcase is captured by the PCV system and introduced into the intake tract, this mist can increase the tendency to form deposits on the back side of the intake valves. Port-injected systems...

2020 and newer Mini Countryman JCW BIG BRAKE pad replacement

Thanks ctechbob. Yep, that's the stick-on nubs I referred to that are on the pads (as well as replacement pads) on the 2019 type brakes such as in your YouTube video. Perhaps you're right and these are superfluous. My 2020 JCW brakes are MUCH "taller" and not-so-thick as the ones in your video...

2020 and newer Mini Countryman JCW BIG BRAKE pad replacement

Has anyone replaced the pads that go on the 360 x 30 front and 330 x 20 rear rotors on the JCW? My 2019 pads had two stick-on centering pieces to be placed on the back of each pad. I ordered OEM pads to make sure I have the correct size and these have no stick-on centering pieces like my 2019...

    2021 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi 5w-20 Valvoline Restore and Protect 2200 miles

You may also find that some 0w20's are "thicker" than some 5w20's. Don't let the "0w" and "5w" drive your decision.

    2022 Camry 2.5 fuel dilution/viscosity selection question

This 2.5 Dynamic Force engine has the highest power per displacement and highest efficiency of any non-boosted engine I've owned in 50+ years of driving. Toyota did a great job making this one...

Brakes and rotors replaced, vibration over 50miles/h or 80km/h

I hate to say I've seen it, but, I've seen the rotor not being fully seated against the hub, and that was exactly how it acted. The Rotor screw was even used...yet, the rotor was not fully seated and it wobbled.

    VVT and thicker oil

If little changes in viscosity had a great effect on VVT, the engine wouldn't run worth a darn at cold oil temps, or it wouldn't run worth a darn at high oil temps. If it runs good at both cool and hot temps, viscosity has little to do with VVT function.

Viscosity Grade recommendation for Death Valley

This thread taught me that I have not appreciated the rise in temps in bearings due to RPMs. I always thought the rise in oil temps was primarily due to combustion heat and oil interacting with the resultant "heat sink" in the chamber walls and pistons. I came to my old (incorrect) conclusion...

CAFE Credits for Longer Oil Drain Intervals

Or maybe 8-10,000 mile intervals work just fine...like on my K24 Honda with over 100,000 miles in this picture.

B58 Supra Oil for hot/humid climate

Climate doesn't matter, unless you are operating in severe cold, or racing the engine at high altitudes (less cooling effectiveness the lower the atmospheric pressure). Florida's "hot and humid" climate isn't a difference-maker in oil choice. Engines are not alive, they are not dependent upon...

The truth about oil change intervals and analysis

As they stated: they don't know what this owner did. They "assumed" a lot. I've run 8-10,000 mile intervals on cars for years, and the valvetrains never looked like that. Here's a Honda K24 with over 100,000 mile intervals for an example:

    2012 Honda Accord VTC noise

Or replace the springs in that VTC system, if it's like the VTC system in the 9th generation K-engines. Could also be the Timing chain tensioner if it's the same as in the 9th gen K-engines. I wouldn't expect an oil to fix a mechanical problem. Now, if your engine has some gunk in a passageway...

Toyota / Lexus A25A-FXS Hybrid engine oil questions

That engine will outlast the car if you put 0w16 in it it's entire lifespan. I like how you sniffed the oil...that's about as accurate as Blackstone's VERY INACCURATE fuel % guess. Hybrid engines don't run all the time, so they don't get as hot, so the oil is actually thicker than it would be if...

0w30 Pennzoil platinum euro in 5.3 Vortec

Ran Pennzoil LX 0w30 in a BMW engine for just over 5000 miles. Reported viscosity was 10.44. Range should be 9.4 to 12.4. It has a LOT of Boron, not much Moly. Good report overall for my engine.

    Oil for B58 Ineos Grenadier

An ambient temperature startup uses a much richer fuel mixture than the mixture utilized in a hot engine. Inevitably and unavoidably, some of that fuel passes the rings and ends up in the oil. Until the engine gets much hotter than just 5 minutes of running, this increase in fuel is essentially...

What is considered as 'Optimal' engine oil temperature... ?

It depends, of course. Looking at all the vehicles listed in your signature...which vehicle are you reporting on here? And, are you going by a readout or a calibrated temp sensor?
