Do street names matter to you?

That's probably intentional, if the numbering system is part of a huge grid. In a city like Chicago, for example, you could have an address like 1601 N. Ashland Avenue and you could walk down countless paralleling streets and the numbers will be more or less all the same.

New to me 6th Gen Bronco

Am I the only one amused that apparently Ford offers something called a "Sasquatch" trim level? Seems to me those should be REALLY hard to find. Same with the "Loch Ness Monster-edition F-150.

Question about condensation or gunk on oil cap

Were they other Camrys you were seeing, or just other cars in general? I wouldn't worry about it. It might even be as simple as something like how much humidity is in the air. The other guy across the country gets condensation, while you don't. My Cobalt gets some liquid - a bit of oily...

    Smokers cars

+2 Same here. I think the "flow-thru" ventilation blows the smell out of the other car and into ours. Having the windows up doesn't stop the smell.

    Smokers cars

We always had a fleet of Ford Rangers for our field staff to use. Some of the guys kept them clean. Others.... Not so much. One guy went through a phase where he was using chewing tobacco. He kept a little cup in the center console to spit in, but often he missed. Eventually there was a...

Driving techniques to minimize cold start/short trip wear--what do you think?

I suspect they're both retired. I remember when my parents retired. Their days became an endless cycle of short errands, just like the ones the OP describes, always returning home in-between. The idea of combining trips never occurred to them.

Driving techniques to minimize cold start/short trip wear--what do you think?

Perhaps appeal to her frugal side. Combining all three trips into one will not only prevent all those cold starts and partial warm-ups, it'll save gas. Help her pick a route that eliminates going back and forth.

Driving techniques to minimize cold start/short trip wear--what do you think?

Why can't she do all that in one trip? Gym, lunch, store.... Then go back home.

I love the snow but ... Kinda done with it

Same here. Chicago suburbs.... If it snows again this season, it's likely to be the last one for the season. And there's nothing in the immediate forecast. At least the bike paths will be dry quickly when it starts to get warmer.

    Previous owner poor MPG

Be wary of those numbers, unless you know how often (or if) they reset themselves. Hondas reset the MPG when you reset the oil-life monitor, at least some Hondas do. On some cars, like my Cobalt, the displayed MPG is only based on the past few hundreds or thousands of miles. I could set out...

Article: comparing the two most inexpensive new cars in the USA - Mirage vs Versa.

Be forewarned; I used that term in another thread and it got edited out by a moderator. It's just an expression; it doesn't refer to any actual crimes.

Article: comparing the two most inexpensive new cars in the USA - Mirage vs Versa.

What they really mean to say is "other folks should be buying simple cars".

Best way to dump a customer?

I've had a few callers who I wish the management here would fire. I schedule and dispatch service technicians.... I'll come in on a Monday and find missed calls from a particular caller, three times on a Sunday, no message left. Or he'll call at 5:30 AM and not leave a message. Or at 12:01...

Bonus points if you can get your insurance to pay for it!

I love the snow but ... Kinda done with it

We finally got enough snow here to justify putting gas in the snowblower and firing it up. But it was barely 3-4 inches and a lot of people did it the old-fashioned way, with shovels. Up until now we've had a few 1-inch snowfalls. Sadly I am on my third season with this set of Blizzaks and I...

    Uninspired Auto design

In an updated version of that picture, every car would be "Portland Cement Gray". And no two-doors.

Did I catch this before it turned into a milkshake of death?

+2 I've used the term "cold chimney" in the past although one usually doesn't think of chimneys being cold. At any rate its a dead-end kind of place that doesn't get regular hot flow and thus that kind of condensation builds up there. Similarly, my Cobalt gets a little of that "milkshake"...

If you could change one thing on your daily driver what would it be?

There's a Kia Rio (or whatever the smallest, cheapest Kia was) that I see around town occasionally which has a Honda badge on the trunk. I always wonder; how did he decide on Honda? The real social-climbers among us would have gotten an Acura badge, or Lexus.... Or Mercedes, etc.

We sure have a good group of guys on this site.

I think that's true of a lot of forums, regardless of subject matter. I used to be on a lot more of them - sports forums, music, photography, model trains, half-a-dozen car forums.... Most are gone now. Some are ghost towns. Where the 1990s had its email lists and Yahoo groups and 2000-2010...

So Kohler sold off its small engine division?

Man, where was that thing when I was a kid? I would have had a blast running it in the yard. On a side note, there really are actual backhoes nearly that tiny. The smallest one I've ever seen was so little it didn't even have a seat for the operator; instead he had to stand beside it and run...
