2022 Subaru WRX HPL PCMO 5w-30 5000 miles

DIT WRX's have been around for about 9 years so not exactly new. ;) And the 2.4 is beefier than the 2.0 was. I need high hp for the NJ Turnpike. 😁

2022 Subaru WRX HPL PCMO 5w-30 5000 miles

I haven't been following tunes on the FA24DIT (since Cobb is still working on Outback support), but your fuel is fairly typical for a stock FA24DIT. Anywhere from 2-5% is what I normally see in any Subaru DI. I know with the EJ's, tuners would typically keep it a little rich for safety. I do...

What are the current OEM partnerships for factory fill?

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but Subaru Japan has worked with Castrol. Even though the post title mentions factory fill the linked web site and original post refers to "partnerships". We may have to subtract points from @cheesepuffs2 for that. ;)

What are the current OEM partnerships for factory fill?

Not mine. It was a Subaru Japan recommended option in the FA20DIT as well as other gasoline engines.

0w-30/5w-30 in a 2024 crosstrek and subaru timing chains

Looks like both the FB20 and FB25 recommend 0W-16 with "0W-20 conventional" being allowed for replenishment, and thicker viscosity being required in hot temps. That "replenishment" language as been around since ~2011 and the thicker viscosity language even longer than that. It was in my 2004...

What are the current OEM partnerships for factory fill?

Yes, but I believe it was problematic and they dropped it. Although not sure if they dropped it because it was problematic. The Castrol 5W-40 was recommended in the 2.0DIT as an option for a thicker grade oil.

What are the current OEM partnerships for factory fill?

Subaru Japan has sold a Castrol 5W-40 oil for several years, but I don’t think partnership referred to by Castrol refers to factory fill. https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Genuine-Castrol-Professional-Synthetic-K0226-Y0001/dp/B01CRQ28SQ It used to be on Subaru Japan’s web site although I can’t...

    Oil for 21 wrx

Because many WRX owners think that you have to use an HDEO to get a more robust oil than a resource conserving one. Any high SAPS oil is not a good choice in a Subaru DIT though. If you want to run Amsoil I’d go with 5W-30 European. Something that meets or is recommended for ACEA C3 will be...

2023 Subaru WRX - Factory Fill and 1st Change UOAs

No, but one on PUP 0W-20 and another on Valvoline EP 0W-20. Didn’t post them, but fuel was 2.8% and 4.5% via GC. The higher fuel was during the winter with 6 mile daily trips and occasional warming up the car while clearing ice and snow. Regardless of which engine, the Subaru DIT’s usually...

2023 Subaru WRX - Factory Fill and 1st Change UOAs

The JDM WRX with the FA24 also recommends 0W-20 but alllows 5W-30 and Euro 0W-30. I presume that the factory fill would be the same for JDM and USDM.

2016 Subaru STi, 34.9k miles, 3.5k miles OCI Castrol Euro 0w30 LL01 w/ OE filter

Yes, other than a slight uptick in lead. This was actually a turbo with only around 20k on it. The uoa just before the failure. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/amsoil-sso-0w-30-8-471-miles-subaru-forester-xt.114445/ Just shows the limitations of uoa’s.

2016 Subaru STi, 34.9k miles, 3.5k miles OCI Castrol Euro 0w30 LL01 w/ OE filter

Yes, I did keep the screen in but was still pushing my intervals beyond Subaru's new (at the time) requirement that turbos fell under Severe Service. Even Amsoil advised to follow SoA's recommendation on their web site. I still kept the screen in after the failure because the lead Master Tech...

2016 Subaru STi, 34.9k miles, 3.5k miles OCI Castrol Euro 0w30 LL01 w/ OE filter

Always did even though it wasn’t needed due to coolant continuing to circulate after shutdown. I did put another ~110k on the new turbo before the car was totaled.

2016 Subaru STi, 34.9k miles, 3.5k miles OCI Castrol Euro 0w30 LL01 w/ OE filter

Not 10k on an EJ turbo. That advice and “good uoa’s” cost me a turbo. 5k should be fine though.

The new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek calls for 0w-16.

I don’t believe thinner oil at startup for the timing chain is really a thing, given that all models outside of N. America allow thicker grades. I’m curious whether the dealer using 0W-20 is due to them deciding that 0W-20 is best for the application and location or if they are unaware of the...

The New Tokyo Roki Subaru filter

I wish I would've know how bad the old blue OEM filters were before putting over 175,000 miles on them in my modified FXT.

    Oil recommendations for Subaru 2.4T

Just to clarify that the 2.4DIT does not allow/recommend 5W-40. That was only in the 2.0 DIT. They do still allow the Euro 0W-30 though. This is from the JDM WRX manual with the 2.4 DIT.
