Been a while since I posted, but here's my latest UOA as well as a few past analyses. Another booooring UOA on this engine... but that's how I like 'em. Since Sept 2005 I've been using only the M1 10W30, if it ain't broke.... right? And the trend continues... I'm running a fill of Pennzoil...

I've been absent for a while now, but the Seq just crossed 100K a couple of weeks back... time for a UOA. I'll be posting soon. Oh BTW... I hope my numbers look better than these. Any double digit metal wear in this engine looks unusual.

Another boring Toyota 4.7L V8 UOA... yawn... ho-hum... Although M1 10W30 works well, I'm tempted to try something else, just for curiousity's sake. Yeah, I think I'll try one of the "lesser" (cheaper) synthetics next fill, just to make these UOAs a little more interesting. I wonder what...

Since 1996 Toyota has been making this GREAT engine! I hope the 4.7 in my Sequoia is simply a refinement of your engine... someone... let me know for sure.

At 5K miles I'll do a UOA on the MC7500, but not change the oil; I'll make the decision to change or extend based upon the results of the UOA. I will also determine which oil to use at that time. It will most likely be between Havoline dino or the GC. As for my driving style... I'm aggressive...

Does my engine not like Mobil or what? Tell me if I'm wrong, but it looks like I should stick with conventional oils. This was certainly a surprise! And not a pleasant one. Never seen the Toyota 4.7 V8 throw results as bad as these. I suspect that the short trips and towing would have contributed significantly to the high relative wear, and also agree with polk that contamination may have something to do with...

TooSlick, ex_MGB... thanks. Both of your responses were quite interesting. But a question... running the oil too long? Is this indicated by the low TBN.. a low TBN indicates acidity? I thought many conventional oils provided protection past the "old" standard of 3,000 miles. Is this not true...

I thought of this as well, but they're both SL and were purchased at the same time. Wait... the engine takes 5 qts so I might have had a gallon of the SL and a quart of the SM, I can'. Would 20% SM skew the Moly and Calcium this much? Nope... just ran down and checked a left over quart of Pennz...

After almost 2 1/2 years and 50K miles... I did not consider my Nissan "new" anymore. Or is 50K still considered "new" for this engine? I doubt it...

Yep... I just checked the actual reports and that's what's indicated.

What about the moly and calcium as well? Those levels are higher in relation to the previous UOA. And as far as a leak in the air intake is concerned, I doubt it. I'll take a look tomorrow but I haven't fiddled around the filter or intkae at all in the last few months.

I've already come to the conclusion that Mobil1 does not match up well with my VQ35 in my G35... if after one more interval with the Amsoil, wear does not improve significantly, find another oil.... that lead wear is downright SCARY! Even the copper is pretty high. See my UOAs:

Don't think I'm ready to run a 15K mile ODI... comfort level is not there yet. Besides, what will I do if I don't have my truck to fiddle with every few months?

6.5 quarts... and it does not consume much of it during the interval, I drained a litle less than 6qts out.
