    Dealer Fill 0W20, 9,574 miles, 18 Lexus GS350

7.5K OCIs... on my radar. I plan on doing a few UOAs between 5 and 10K with this current fill.

Interesting... something I will be considering for my daughter's 1.5T 2017 Civic.

Previous daily driver was an 03 G35 that I kept until 276K, still have my 02 Sequoia with 335K... so I do keep my cars around a long time. But you are correct in that other things star failing before the engine does.

Yup! From central Florida and down... never seen any a day under 50F.

I agree, this fill performed quite well, with the exception of silicon, which is odd since I went nowhere close to the airfilter at all since we purchased the car in Dec 2017. I looked at the air filter location and saw that these airboxes aren't secured by clips like 99% of airboxes out there...

Reply Good point... teaching and trusting is easy when they are right next to you in the garage, but it's so easy to forget that our kids are probably much more capable than we give them credit for.

Yep, that's the plan, but the car's out of my reach right now, and she doesn't have any friends car-smart enough to check her airbox to ensure it's secured andsealed properly. For heaven's sake, she had to show her boyfriend how to change a flat tire a couple of months ago... and these "kids"...

I was surprised at the minimal fuel dilution as well, I really did expect to see some frightening results from this UOA. Especially since the oil was in use for 15 months.

Really couldn't say, it's my daughter's car. But I've used different viscousities in my cars before and I've truly never been able to feel any differences in driving dynamics. I've always thought any changes would be too minuscule to be noticed.

30K miles on the odometer. Left the oil in longer than I intended, should have changed in December with about 4K on the oil, but off it went to college with my daughter who only visited a couple of weeks ago. This fill was Penn Plat 0W20... Silicon seems a little on the high side, but nothing...

With this being just the 2nd oil change, that's how I'm looking at it as well. I believe that with sampling done at intervals before the next OCI, I'll have a much better idea of how this engine will work with the PP 0W20. Considering going to 0W30 or 5W30, also considering Valvoline since I've...

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. Let me try to respond to the comments I can remember off the top of my head... Not a short tripper, but a garage queen for much of the last 12 months, blame it on the pandemic. Only drove about 4K miles the last 12 months, but usually a 10-15 mile...

Okay, here we go... Dealer fill in this 2018 Lexus GS350, I assume to be 0W20 TGMO, in a typically very reliable 3.5L V6 that's been around a long time. 9,574 miles on the oil, but it was in there for 19 months... never left oil in use for such a long period before. As Blackstone states, Iron...

    Toyota 5.7L burning oil

If the 5.7 is anything like the 4.7 V8, you will be fine with Valvoline High Mileage... that (10W30) and my '02 Sequoia are a match made in heaven!

Oil Change and increased oil leaks/seepage?

Thanks for the replies, even the little comedic distraction... much appreciated. I see there are a few similar threads on here about switch oils and grades, and increased and decreased leaks. I'm going to try changing back to Maxlife HM and see if there's a change. If not, that's about $40 down...

Oil Change and increased oil leaks/seepage?

So on my 2002 V8 Toyota with 338K miles, I changed from primarily using Maxlife HM 10W30 to a mix of 5 qts 10W30 PP HM and 1.5 qt 0W20 PP for this oil change. No logic behind this other that a need to get rid of partially used oil jugs laying abut the garage. It's been about 3 months and 900...

Valvoline Maxlife Blend of 10W30 & 5W30, 8,026 miles, 2002 Sequioa... Another Yawner

Not a lot of short tripping, I have a 2nd car that I share the miles pretty evenly between, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. And remember the miles are low these last few months because of the pandemic, we were in lockdown for a time in Florida and I still don't go out unnecessarily.
