    2022 GR86, PP 5W-20, 8,337 OCI

It's been 12 months since the last change, more than 8K miles and it appears that the 5W20 performed well. Si still appears high but is trending in the right direction; I believe it's the sealants not the air filter. Refilled with more of the same.

I did.. the gap was tight. I was very surprised!

    2017 Civic, 1.5T, 98K on ODO, Pennz Ultra Plat 5W20, 8,677 ODI

The PUP was likely purchased anywhere from 12-24 months ago. Of the 3 cars at home, 2 see once per year ODIs and the Civic gets changed every 4-5 months. The OEM recommendation for all is 0W20, so I stepped out a bit with 5W20, and purchased 4 jugs of the stuff. But then I decided to go 5W30...

    2017 Civic, 1.5T, 98K on ODO, Pennz Ultra Plat 5W20, 8,677 ODI

Not a dang thing. This engine clearly prefers highway miles. It's what I had in the garage. I did use 5W30 Euro L in this fill though, and I have enough Euro L for another change after this current run. Interesting. No change in fuel and no additives used. Where else might manganese come...

    2017 Civic, 1.5T, 98K on ODO, Pennz Ultra Plat 5W20, 8,677 ODI

Pennzoil, in all its formulations, has always worked well for my engines. So far this engine has not been consuming oil. Most of the driving has been highway/suburbia miles, with very little city driving. So although the conversations about fuel dilution were concerning at first, it's been a...

    2017 Civic, 1.5T, 98K on ODO, Pennz Ultra Plat 5W20, 8,677 ODI

Almost 5 months since the last change. Since it was approaching the 100K mark, decided to perform a little tune up as well, plugs, PCV, air filter and intake cleaning. Took the oil sample through the dipstick; changed the oil 7 days later. Used CRC GDI IVD spray and followed the instructions to...

Don't remember the oil level on the dipstick. I don't check the dipstick the day of the change, but intermittently during the interval. If it was low at anytime, I would have topped it off. Doubt it's burning oil.

I would prefer to use PUP but it is not always available when I'm buying oil. I buy for 3 cars, and I try for Euro L for the Civic and 0W20 or 5W20 for the other two; if PUP is not available, I just buy the PP. I typically end up mixing the PUP with the PP to use up my oil stash.

Starting to build a nice trend here. Nothing stands out; the way a UOA should be on Toyota engines. I drive mostly highway so I do not expect any changes going forward. But I need to remember to buy the same oils and keep them in the garage. I see the yellow bottles and think I have enough...

    17 Civic 1.5T, 89K mi; PP 5W20, 7.8k mi

Never thought about it that way... just 3.7qts... the oil is holding up well, or rather the engine is not harsh on the oil at all. Also factoring into the good numbers is the fact that this engine sees very few short trips, if any.

Sorry, can't answer this one... my daughter's ride. But I doubt there would be any descernible difference.

I ignore, or rather tell my daughter to ignore the maintenance minder, and shoot for my desired OCI... around 7K or so.

About 4 months since the last oil change this time around. At this rate, the Civic will hit the 100K mile mark around October... and it's doing the job we bought it for... providing mostly trouble free miles to my daughter as her first car. No real issue with fuel dilution as reported with...

3rd change here. Looks like it's still a tad high on Cu and Si, but trending in the right direction. We're in South FL, so no need for the recommended 0W-20. Refilled with the same PP 5W-20 and plan on sticking with it and 5K OCIs for a few changes, unless there's a compelling reason to switch...

Good info to know. I'll be perusing those Honda forums to learn about this issue. Thanks!

The cost savings is minimal (~$4 per 6-month period), actually lauhgable  but experimenting with other oils can be interesting. So in truth, the cost savings may not be my primary motivator.

Going to try inching up to a longer OCI, probably to 9K then 10 and eventually 12K. It all depends on remembering to do so. The Civic averages anywhere from 1,300 to 2,000 miles per month... young folks haven't developed a pattern of life yet so I can't create a reminder to prompt me to change...

You know, AFTER purchasing the Civic for my daughter, I found out that these Honda 1.5 turbo engines had fuel dilution issues... I thought this was the end of Honda reliability and I was going to have a major headache on my hand with this car. So I faithfully conducted UOAs, did a little...

I agree... the numbers have come down quite a bit. I will likely run to 10K on this fill of PP 5W20.
