    Oldest tool you regularly use?

My Metrinch socket set bought in the mid 1990's. I use these pretty much every time I need to use sockets.

Mastercool or Yellow jacket ac gauges

That is the kind I had malfunction. It was a Robinair one and the Shrader valve was bad. I had another one just like it that has always worked fine. I think they work better than the ones that attach to the top. I don't like using cans for the reasons I stated above but I get that for most...

Mastercool or Yellow jacket ac gauges

This plus I've had the can taps malfunction, and I would lose all of my refrigerant that was in the can.

Mastercool or Yellow jacket ac gauges

I use it on O-rings and screwed connections on any lines I take apart.

Mastercool or Yellow jacket ac gauges

This is what I did back in 2006 when I had a car that my fiancé wanted the air to work in but to have someone else to repair it was almost as much as the car was worth. She told me she would buy me the tools if I learned how to do the work. I bought a couple of books and found an automotive...

    BITOG approved borescope for 2024?

I have no idea. There may be some differences between the specs but I have not compared those between all three.

LockNLube Grease Gun Coupler XL opinions?

I have both size tips and one of their pistol grip grease guns as well as their accessory kit. Great product but like others have mentioned, you have to keep the tip centered or it will leak some, but I've run into that on other types of grease guns as well. I like that it locks on to the...

    Ignoring CEL

I would tell your brother to not call you if his car eventually breaks down and no longer runs. If he is too cheap to do maintenance and repairs, I would be too cheap to help him out. Depending on why the CEL is on, sometimes ignoring it can lead to long term expensive damage.

Question on 'flushing' an AC system?

A couple of years ago I fixed the AC in my fiancé's dad's 2007 Ford Superduty. When we pulled the orifice tube, it was totally clogged. Probably the worst one that I have ever seen. The compressor had been making noise prior to that and the system no longer cooled. We replaced everything...

What are you working on today?

Changed the engine oil and transmission fluid on our 97 GMC K1500 truck. Truck has 80,000 miles on it and is mostly used as a farm truck but my fiance's son is currently driving it because the transmission is going out on his 2008 Ford Focus and it's not drivable. My fiance's Grandfather...

Innova 7111 and Prius brake bleeding.

That is Innova's best scanner but I have read quite a few reviews where people have said that some of the functions don't work. I have the Innova 5610 which leaves a lot to be desired and is why I have several other more expensive scanners that do pretty much everything.

Help: diagnostic procedure for failed rear wiper.

Having a good ground elsewhere in the vehicle does not mean that the ground for your particular circuit is good. The ground for your particular circuit is where you need to test. The problem with continuity tests is that they don't tell you if the wiring can carry a load. Say you have a...

Help: diagnostic procedure for failed rear wiper.

According to the diagram, this motor is hard grounded to the left rear quarter panel. Have you checked the connection there? Did you do a voltage drop test at this ground connection point like I suggested above? You should be checking the ground with the circuit loaded so Key on, engine off...

Fuse keeps blowing, P0705 (Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction)

You should be doing voltage drop tests with the circuits loaded which means key on, engine off. There cannot be a voltage drop if there is no current flow. If testing positive side voltage drops, put the red multimeter lead on the positive battery cable and the negative lead on the positive...

    Intermittent misfire 2019 Ford F-150 2.7 Ecoboost S-Crew 4x4

There should be data PIDS for actual and desired fuel pressures for both the low-pressure side and high-pressure side. I would see if you can find them and then drive the truck under the conditions that the misfire occurs to see if they match. I would also find out what the theory and...

Anyone Using One Of These Cheap Pocket Scopes???

I have the Uscope from AES Wave as well as a Thinkcar four channel scope that works with my Thinktool Pros and Launch X431 scanners. The Thinkcar scope is kind of expensive though. Here is what several of the YT mechanics that I follow use and really like and it's pretty cheap for a...
