    BMW Battery Registration Success

Yes, the Ancel let me change the amp/hours to 90AGM. The old battery was 80AGM. You have to choose professional instead of quick in the battery management menu. I looked at the bimmercode options but decided to go with the Ancel.

    BMW Battery Registration Success

Got a no-crank on our 2011 BMW 528i that is a spare vehicle. Displayed ignition malfunction on the screen. Tested the 4-year-old battery and it was a little low, so replaced it with Everstart H8 AGM. Still no go. Off to our indy shop on the back of a flatbed tow truck. Dead starter. Intake...

Considering a Stihl MS 250 chainsaw

Bought an MS-170 several years ago, and I end up using it way more than anything else. Bought a Shindaiwa 591 after Hurricane Sally when chainsaws were scarce, especially Stihls, and the 591 is a cutting machine but a little heavy. Hurricane blew down a giant oak in our yard and cut it up for...

    Tires for 1982 Datsun 280ZX

Bought a new Datsun 280z with a four-speed manual in 1976 and drove it for 12 years. Like you, wish I still had it, but I'm not sure about getting in and out of it these days!!! I always ran Michelins.

    M1 15w50 too much for a 1984 Ford 302?

I ran Castrol GTX 20w-50 in my 1988 F150 with the 5.0 for 467,000 miles. OCI 3k miles. I'm also in Alabama.

    Terrifying BMW lane assist problem

Drove a loaner X3 while they performed the Vanos bolt recall on our 5 Series. I was amazed how much force it took to overcome the lane control, and I'm a big guy who works out. It was just one of those going around a car turning into a driveway so I didn't use my blinker. It was crazy. I would...

Daughter's 2018 Subaru Forester needs new CVT

UPDATE: Subaru told the dealer to service the transmission and perform test drives instead of replacing the CVT. They're going to drive it 25 miles and see if the check engine light comes back on. I didn't have any trouble driving it to the dealer but I stayed off the interstate and didn't push it.

Daughter's 2018 Subaru Forester needs new CVT

No CVT service because of the extended warranty. She’s had both control arms replaced under warranty and no mention of CVT service although they had a list of other service they recommended.

Daughter's 2018 Subaru Forester needs new CVT

Daughter was on her way to our house when she called me and said the AT oil temperature too high notice came on about 2 miles from our house. Of course, check engine and all the other dash lights illuminated. I gingerly drove it to the Subaru place in Mobile, avoiding interstates, and they told...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Bought two jugs during the Amazon sale and am going to try it in my daughter's 2018 Subaru Forester with 87k miles. Oil has been regularly changed at 5k miles. How long should I go on the first R&P fill?

    2024 Subaru BRZ vs 1970 Datsun 240 Z

Bought a new 280z in 1976 and drove it for 12 years and 225,000 miles. Wish I still had it. Loved that car!

    Fluid recommendations for 1968 MGB

Had a 1980 MGB for several years and used Castrol GTX 20w-50. Like ripcord said, if it's not leaking oil, ain't none in it! Fun car!

    New to Mercedes

Speaking of oil, MB’s service interval is 10k miles. I’ve never run more than 7k on anything, including the 528i. I’ve perused some of the threads with no clear consensus. Please chime in or link to a thread I missed.

    New to Mercedes

Only one I've taken. I'll try to do better, but I'm hot from working in the garden.

    New to Mercedes

We were looking for a mid-size SUV for my wife to make hauling our grandson around a little easier. Thought we were going to come home with a late model BMW X5 with low miles. Instead, we ended up with a CPO 2021 Mercedes GLE 350 with 20k miles. Pre-owned sales manager made us an offer we...

    Starter still worked

After helping me replace the starter on my Briggs 26hp ELS, my neighbor decided to replace his on the same engine. This is what he found when he opened up the old starter, which was still spinning but not particularly well.

    Chevrolet rant

Update, my trusted independent shop did the transmission service, and I'm happy to report the shudder is gone and it's shifting like buttah! He told me he added a BG friction modifier and LubeGuard.

    Chevrolet rant

I've decided to keep my GM friend card unplayed and will get my independent shop (not inexpensive but trusted) to do the transmission service for $565. That fluid is expensive! I'll update after the service this Thursday.

    Chevrolet rant

Got a friend who works for GM in the Southeast region working on it. Hopefully, we can resolve this. But may have my trusted indy shop do the transmission flush if Chevy doesn't agree to do it for free.

    Chevrolet rant

Jackwad at the dealer said the 45k mile service is required and he's had warranty claims denied because it wasn't done. I told him to cancel my appointment.
