    Pentius PCXL Extended Filter Efficiencies

This should be a sticky at the top of this forum. Along with this: And my trust in these companies is very low. Tears and leaks are either not known about (incompetence) or ignored (fraud) by several major manufacturers (Purolator / Mann & Hummel, WIX, Fram / Champ Labs)

    Pentius PCXL Extended Filter Efficiencies

Remember that PG & companies like Pentius are only distributors. We don't know who exactly the manufacturers are. Pentius XL are made in Korea. Their basic is made in China like many of the PG filters. It wouldn't be a surprise if the manufacturer of all these similar looking filters is the same...

Roku Player has faster connection with my WiFi vs ethernet connection

Another reason to use ethernet whenever possible. And don't forget that with ethernet, you can install Access Points / Mesh with wired backhaul to improve your wifi coverage.

Korean soap operas or should I say drama / K-Drama, have become very popular.

    CarQuest R85348MP Cut Open

Cheap filter is "Leak Tested" for quality assurance purposes compared to expensive filters from Fram & Wix that appear to get no QA whatsoever. Meanwhile, execs at First Brands will get a bonus for getting rid of pink media, wire backing, felt seal to prevent bypass, making the end caps...

Which 7317 Fram ( or other sized filter ) for a 2.0 Honda commuter?

The Pentius base plate is ever so slightly different from a generic PG. But otherwise very very similar. PG sources filters rather than manufacturers them, but you can imagine there to be a manufacturer who operates in several countries in Asia. Pentius is based in CA so may have nothing to do...

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Looks good. Please provide date code. In other posts of filters, we usually get a picture where we see the vertical part in the hole of the end cap. Many of them have small protrusions that help hold the leaf spring / bypass valve in place, but which would create a gap in the vertical part. In...

Premium Guard Ext Life - 99% at 25 microns, but micron rating is 42-60?

If you type "Carquest <part number>" into google, you get a filter specific link as the first result. In your case: http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=CFI&partNumber=84356 And it says: "99% filtration efficiency at 30 microns" But that might be an older filter since the gasket is black...

Valvoline Restore and Protect in Toyota Prius with 291K miles

Couple of points; 1) Before using the R&P, you might have wanted to use the cheapest oil you could find just to see what oil consumption over 500 / 1000 miles it has. In other words a baseline to judge R&P 2) If you intend to change filters often, I think the PG basic filter in a case purchase...

Premium Guard Ext Life - 99% at 25 microns, but micron rating is 42-60?

I have interpreted this the same way as you. I emailed them and no response. If you look at the Ecoguard website, they do claim that it is 99% at 25 microns. Ecoguard was acquired by PG several years ago. I emailed them and no response. A few years back a member here got very responsive answers...

Technivorm Moccamaster vs. Behmor Brazen Plus 3.0

If your coffee comes out a bit too bitter and you drink it black, add some salt. Water makes a big difference to coffee brewing. I have RO water and add a pre diluted amount of Sodium Bicarbonate from Baking Soda and Magnesium Sulfate from Epsom Salt. You can play around with the proportions...

Is Fram's Tough Guard now their best filter?

A Fram Endurance with one pleat because the oil will go through the single pleat enough times that it will get to 99% efficient at 20 microns?

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Earlier wire backed will have the felt seal. Later ones will not. Earlier metal to metal seals seem fine. The leaf spring quality appears to be deteriorating over time. An XG box that says "Durable Metal Screen" will have wire backing and felt seal. Boxes that say "Perfect Seal Gasket" need...

Fram Drive FD6607 with light test

Apparently, in the can there is 70lb of force from the leaf spring. I poured oil down the center tube of an intact filter to check the leaf spring integrity. A harder check in a used filter but still possible and a more definitive check imo.

Maybe update the sticky because that doesn't exactly match the Fram format.

    Ford dealer oil filter quality?

Don't forget that Ford specify the filter specs and recommend that you use it and sell them to the dealers. Apparently, Premium Guard does a better job than Ford in managing their filter suppliers even though there are infinitely more skus.
