It does come with one though and no Bypass.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Yes, and so we come full circle to results shown by BR on Endurance. If it was a “leaker” (I say likely) what would your “judgement on the information” be then?

Why take a chance? Not worth it and it will keep you guessing if installed. This link says it comes with one. Does not indicate. Bypass though? https://partshawk.com/mann-filter-w-712-75-engine-oil-filter.html

Technically, we don’t have solid proof that stated performance ratings are erroneous. At least not yet.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Here’s the recent pic on a non leaker (above). Note the elevated ring around the hole. That’s what’s providing a seal…no gasket required. The other pics are from same area on FE and it’s FLAT, allowing minute spaces under the bypass. If you zoom in on the first one, you can even see the rough...

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that Fram is well aware of the bypass “imperfections” and concluded that it’s a “tolerable” situation. It’s obviously being driven by cost considerations. I would be truly surprised to see a “fix” anytime in the foreseeable future.

I used 14 fuel system cleaners in 1 OCI and looked at it with an endoscope

Put Techron Complete 1oz per gallon in 2019 with Sonata GDI and 2K mi since OC ( Restore and Protect ) with 23K mi total at OC. Prior to adding Techron , oil was completely transparent. Just checked dip stick after 400 +miles (empty tank) and it was two shades darker! Stuff is working.

I have that exact filter on my Hyundai right now, but it’s Endurance. Advantage over current Ultra is 1) Wire backed 2) superior 100% synthetic media. Both probably have same “bypass leak”discussed here.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

Fair enough, so we’re looking at what? 5-10 ml gone in 5 min? Just curious.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

The only way to do this would be to remove the filter from the can. Then you can see how much came out the bypass end vs what was poured in.Is that what you did? Hard to tell from the close ups. I assumed it was an intact filter.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

I got the impression he filled it up all the way. Guess we’ll have to await his answer? The gist of his argument was to imply all the oil poured in went out through the bypass leak. I’m not so sure the amount matters a whole lot…..any amount is going to be primarily absorbed by the filter.

The top is pic from here posted 4 years ago. The bottom is the current display , but don’t know when it originated. Edited: Ok, the video is from 4 years ago, but I don’t know how old the current photo (shown here) on the Website is.

Fram Endurance Flashlight Test in canister

This just dawned on me. If you filled the tube, how much of that would be absorbed by the filter itself? Could be substantial?
