Kirkland and those types of oils really struggle in severe service/extended service. As mentioned luckily that engine typically is easy on oil and did well.
Recently they changed from M+H made with all kinds of problems, to Highline Warren acting as a middle man from factories in Vietnam and S Korea. Very similar to PGI and Pentius filters.

Only the scummiest of scumbag dealers would try to blame the oil with spotless internals. Arbitrators won’t fall for it.
As you know from many UOA’s posted here it’s not uncommon to drop a grade. So a car that specs a 20 grade could come back showing a 16 grade. A much bigger concern than going up a grade or two.

It’s going to be a couple years to know for sure. It took 60k miles to develop the oil consumption, I’m 10k miles in with ESP. Currently consumption is continuing to improve. Down to 1/2 qt in 5k miles.
