Motor Oil for 2024 Subaru BRZ

So I went back and picked up the last 6 bottles on the shelf - Amsoil Signature Series 5w-20. I think this will be my go to oil this year. After break in I will run this oil for the entire year up to the car going into storage in November. No winter use.

5w-30 compared by LSJr - NAPA, Amsoil, RP, ST

or some guy like me who doesn't have more than a couple hours a day of free time and down time, so YT provides information to those who seek it, right or wrong , it serves a purpose. Just like the women who clean windows with see-through dresses, lol, it is out there and easily available.

Motor Oil for 2024 Subaru BRZ

Thanks Patman, you are right the NOACK value is much lower than 0w-20, so that is good in my books. HTHS is 2.67, and viscosity is 8.8 , not too bad. As you may now Peavey is going out of business and their oil is currently 25% off, and it may go higher as the closing date approaches.

Motor Oil for 2024 Subaru BRZ

I came across a supply of Amsoil Signature Series 5w-20 on sale at a local supply store going out of business, I'm wondering if there is any benefit of running 5w-20 over factory 0w-20, if I am only driving the car in 3 seasons, and stored in winter. The Amsoil price looks like a good deal...

    Caliper slide pin grease

That's the bottle I just purchased this week, it was a bit large for what I need at home but they only had one size, perfect for caliper pins and boots.

    Caliper slide pin grease

I just bought a tube of EZ Glyde dielectric silicone grease - clear colour. It protects the rubber boots and is still rated for high temps and won't dry out too easily. I also picked up some orange ceramic grease to use on the caliper contact points with the pads and pistons. But I like...

5w-30 compared by LSJr - NAPA, Amsoil, RP, ST

I liked the video. I myself would like to run the Napa oil but one thing that bugs me is how good fomulas change and it is hard to know what additives are in them if you continue using the same brand in the long term. It has a nice high moly count today, but like TGMO it could change next...

2024 Subaru BRZ Manual Transmission Fluid Suggestions

I haven't been able to locate what Subaru dealers install that meets the Manual Transmission Gear Oil LV 75 t5what is listed in the owner manual. I will keep looking to see if there is a dedicated product. My other choices will be Redline MT-LV 75 which sounds like a nice option, and I...

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

Lots of good replies in this thread, I appreciate them all even if I don't follow the suggestions, nice to hear differing opinions. At the end of the day no engine is going to self-destruct with any of the suggestions. When it comes to motor oil many people are looking for the fountain of youth.

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

Well everyone should fully be aware that any discussion regarding motor oil is 99% preference and 1% facts, and you will get opinions on every side of the issue. I don't mind that. I like Lake Speed Jr. , he has an educated opinion with a good bit of experience, I sure don't. What...

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

Thank you, lol about Lake Speed Jr comment. With the car not being used in winter I would drive it from April until November, and I would do an oil change just as it goes into winter storage. When I do drive it I would make sure it gets fully warmed up. It is not going to any track...

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

I've had to car for 3 weeks but it is in winter storage. Less than 200 kms on the car right now. It will be a weekend only , garage queen type of car, so one oil change a year just before it goes into winter storage is what I suspect will happen.

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

Well Lake Speed JR. suggests dumping the factory fill oil after break-in , normally I would not have thought about it, lol. I'm watching too many youtube videos lately. The factory oil is 0w-20 but the manual states that 5w-30 can be used if temperatures warrant or a non-synthetic is use...

You got that right, I do find it confusing these days.

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

Thanks for the reply, I always thought companies avoid full synthetic for the first bit of time, but if it comes with synthetic then that is an easy decision.

Subaru BRZ First Oil Change - Synthetic at 1000 kms ?

I would like to dump the factory oil at 1000 kms on my 2024 Subaru BRZ - about 600 miles. Most of the break-in should be done by then. I would like to go with Amsoil 0w-30, so would it be okay to go with full synthetic at 1000 kms ? I know Subaru expects me to do the first oil change around...

    REDLINE MT-LV 46000 MILES RX8 6SP

Nice to see this report, I'm considering this for my 24 Subaru BRZ as one of my options, good to see some real world results.

Motul released gear power MTF and it's available now

I'm interested in this thread with me just bringing home a 24 BRZ. One thing I've seen is that the higher viscosity Motul gear oil use had caused hard shifting in cold temps, it worked well when warmed up but was harder to shift in cold temp first start up use. I'm considering going...

Motul released gear power MTF and it's available now

I always had great luck with Amsoil MTF (5w30) on my Honda S2000, despite it being thicker than the Honda MTF2 it flowed better in cold temps and I drove it in extreme cold temps.

202x Ford MACH 1 with handling package, 9k miles, 10R80 transmission failed. Any real fixes yet to get 200k miles or more?

Ford works very hard to deny all warranties, seen it too many times. Even after people pay good money for extended Ford warranties they still try to screw you.. They have to be one of the worst manufacturers when it comes to warranty coverage.
