TYC lights: regular vs CAPA certified?

I recently got rear ended. Lazy body shop installed a capa certified rear bumper as they said insurance will only pay for an aftermarket part (and then if it’s not good enough to satisfy me, they’ll reach back out to insurance and argue for a used oem or new oem bumper depending on...

    Identify Genuine Mazda Fluids

As far as oem fluids go, I insist on it at least for an automatic transmission. I bought my 2003 accord with 100k on it. Fluid looked perfectly clean but it drove with some odd shifting behaviors. A full exchange with Hondas z1 at the time fixed it completely. I’ve experienced many problems...

2008 Toyota Camry "rattle" noise from engine

Camrys of the earlier 2000s had a TSB for something in the intake plenum rattling. Not sure if it applies to your era but it’s worth looking into.

Rental Review: 2023 Mazda CX5 Premium Plus 2.5L

Has there been any more evidence / cases of the trans or torque converters failing on all the cylinder deactivation Mazdas? Someone was on here who sounded knowledgeable on the subject saying that it’s happening left and right been has been kept quiet. Mazda issued a TSB to change fluid types...

2022 Subaru Impreza Alignment Adjustments and specs??

Subarus remained unchanged when I worked in a dealer with Subaru but that was from 2003-2013. If it’s the same, it’s rear camber and toe, and front camber and toe. Front camber adjustment is minimal.

'17 Civic: Dealer says A/C Compressor, Condenser, & Evaporator are all leaking

having worked in a dealership for more than 10 years…it’s definitely possible that the tech doesn’t want to do a warranty compressor seal and condenser as they’ll get shafted on labor, it’ll barely be completed quicker than warranty will pay them if at all by the time they deal with getting the...

2023 Toyota RAV4 rental short review

I used one as a rental in Phoenix end of this last winter. Front wheel drive and almost on treadwear indicators I still made it up (and back down) the snowbowl mountain in flagstaff in heavy snow. I didn’t like the radar cruise…it felt like it waited way too long to slow me down when...

    Mazda ATF-FZ Alternatives (List)

Last trans drain and fill I used Aisin off RockAuto. A lot cheaper than my local dealer and it was blue. I don’t notice anything different from Mazda FZ that I’ve used for at least 3 or 4 drain and fills prior to switching to Aisin.

    Floor jack lowers too quickly

I haven’t tried that. If it were to make it operate normally, what would the fix be? I don’t think it’s a problem with my control of the release handle…I use jacks almost every day and don’t have this problem except with my personal home jack.

Old Auto Tech That You LIKE?

I liked my old 2003 accord’s wipers. If you were on intermittent, they’d stop if you stopped (weren’t in motion). I try to hardly use my wipers and I really liked that feature. (They may have worked while stopped, but they slowed the intervals way down if they did). The palisade we had for a...

    Floor jack lowers too quickly

I don’t have any problem loosening it in a slow and controlled manner. In fact I’m extremely cautious after what’s been happening. I can slowly loosen it and watch the u joint turning ever so slowly (watching because I’m loosening it so slow I’m not even sure my hands turning it lefty loosey...

    Floor jack lowers too quickly

Update…re-bled it and lost some fluid in the process, thought I was onto something. Jack worked seemingly normal on my Mazda. Today, used it on the odyssey (still being overly cautious to release it down onto stands as slow as possible) and it again slammed down. I was hoping being overfilled...

    Bumper cover repairs?

@DuckRyder … when I went for the initial estimate, the writer said the quarters need to be prepped and blended due to getting a new bumper cover. He also sounds very understanding and almost expects that I will not be happy with the fit of a new aftermarket cover, but he has to try that first...

    Nexen Tires okay?

I’ve never personally had nexens but I’ve installed them, and our fleet of promasters come with them from the factory. I don’t think they’re as bad as people are making them out to be, but I’ve never seen them to be enough of a value to buy for my personal cars. When you compare to other value...

Three pedal Mercedes sedan. Is the juice worth the squeeze?

I don’t think you’re getting that thing fixed even just cosmetically for $2k or less unless you have a side work body and paint guy. I feel like that’s too big of a risk of a car if you intend to flip it, but you know flipping as good as anyone on here so you’d know best.

    2017 jeep wrangler P0128 code

We used aftermarket for a couple years on our fleet (ram promasters with 3.6). They all come back within months pissing coolant out. We used 4 seasons and other plain boxed ones. It happened so frequently that we thought the crossover pipe that the thermostat mounts to was cracked. No evidence...

    Popular Interior Wall Color

Our whole house is Sherwin-Williams accessible beige. It’s obviously beige but goes with grays. It was a popular neutral color about 10-11 years ago before gray was popular. We’ve also been mixing in gray lately and it works nicely since accessible beige has some gray undertones. We’ve used...

Vibration under load - Honda Element

That’s correct. A tire vibration is speed dependent and doesn’t start as low speed as you describe unless it’s a busted belt which is a sever wobbling vibration.
