Most, if not all, 15w-40’s are API SN rated now. If that’s a concern to you..

SN or SP oil in air-cooled Mowers

I run T5 15w-40 in my summer OPE. No issues, none expected, happy engines.

New to me 05 Ford Ranger 4x4 with 4.0 v6 80k miles what oil?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Cologne_V6_engine#Timing_chain_problems Looks like your 05 should be ok on the chains. I'd run VRP 5w-30 for a few OCI's just to clean up any stuff and then go from there.

Keep your eye on Xfinity/Comcast internet

So glad more and more fiber is getting rolled out in regions. Was stuck with Comcast for years until Quantum/CenturyLink/Lumen ran fiber in my city. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to call Xfinity up and telling them to get 'effed. Now have synchronous 1Gig up/down, no data caps and a price for...

Smoke from egr valve exhaust On V8

That’s the manifold heat shield for a carb setup. There is a piece of tubing that goes from that piece to the bottom of the intake snout. It feeds warm air to the carb when it’s cold and a vac door closes it off once it reaches temp. As mentioned, smoke is from oil on the exhaust manifold.

Oil that produces the least amount of exhaust smoke?

You mentioned you will be rebuilding the engine shortly, realistically how soon is that? If in the very near future, just keep on with the MaxLife. If a ways out yet, try the Valvoline Restore and Protect out to start working on the rings. 5w-30 flavor is the heaviest offered so far...

New Mobil 1(108-A) made in Vietnam C&P

You just got to go slow. Increase the pressure on the cutting wheel and spin it around till it feels loose then tighten a little more. Too much pressure right off the bat will not work.

The Tokyo Roki Subaru filter that’s made in Indonesia has that as well.

    Do engines get fatigue wear?

They are aluminum, I corrected myself in post #10. Originally I was just thinking heads/block but obviously there are many more components to consider.

    FA24DIT Oil recommendations

IIRC, engines with the oil cooler get the short filter(170) and everything else gets the taller one. Hood clearance or something even though people have used tall filters with no issues. Arg, nevermind, forgot the Wilderness has the turbo 2.4. Brain fart.

ESP 5w-30 and ST 0w-40 now in stock at Wally World

Yeah, the price kinda caught me off guard. Not sure what the bean counters are thinking but absolutely no reason to choose it over the M1.
