The screw was a bit of a nightmare to remove and I had to clout it with a hammer a few times which I'm assuming caused some fatigue. It took next to zero torque before the screw snapped flush with the top of the head. I started off by drilling a small hole and trying to knock a small torx into...

It’s a shame there’s no easy way of conveying sarcasm using written words on a forum. If there was, I’d say something like “The ABS sensor installation went swimmingly well this morning.”. Except I didn’t. A 10 minute job that should have involved popping a wheel off, shoving a sensor in a...

Didn’t take as many pictures as it was 1°c with 40mph winds whistling down out drive. I spent 4 hours with many many layers on like this… I swapped out the O/S hub, drop link and wishbone with little issue. But the car had a new O/S shock and wishbone 3 years ago so it was little surprise...

    Egg panic in my area.

Eggs do neither of those things.

    Egg panic in my area.

This is pretty much the standard in the UK. And why we can keep our eggs out of the fridge. Our eggs are just stored in a basket on the kitchen worktop.

    Renault rn720 - switching to 5w-40

Porsche C40 and VW 511 are both rated to 25,000km intervals. I would use it without worry. If you are concerned, get a UOA done.

    Renault rn720 - switching to 5w-40

I buy Fuchs Titan GT1 Flex 3 5w40 as it's the cheapest Porsche C40 approved oil I can find. I usually pay £30 for 5 litres of it which is a total bargain! I do 5,000miles (8,000km) or 6 month OCI's. I average 400miles a week which is mostly long 'high speed' motorway driving.

    Thoughts on these "resurfaced" Rotors

I will say that I've had a handful of discs with a 'shake' resurfaced and they always seem to end up with a shake again. So generally I change discs under two circumstances, and they would be that either they have met their minimum thickness or they are shimmying under braking.

    Renault rn720 - switching to 5w-40

My Duster with the K9K 874 is specified for RN 720. I've used Porsche C40 / VW 511 oils which are all *w40's based on ACEA C3 since it was brand new.

    Thoughts on these "resurfaced" Rotors

'Pad slapping' is pretty standard in Europe. We don't get half as obsessed as changing discs or resurfacing discs on every pad change as you guys do over there. If it brakes well and doesn't squeal then I'd just run it.

I left the hubs in the citric acid for 5 days and they came out looking like this... The citric acid worked surprisingly well and I wish I knew about this trick many years ago as it would have saved me a lot of time and money in the past. I then washed them thoroughly in the sink with a wire...

Valvoline R&P Where to buy in EU

I believe Rock Auto stock it now and I often order stuff from them for delivery to the UK.

Thought I'd do a little update, although it's not much. Really waiting for the weather to break a little bit so I can start swapping out the front suspension. I want to give the front hubs a lick of paint for aesthetics reasons but also to have a play with a paint I'm hoping to use as a primer...

    Time to upgrade my PC?

I fear I need some sense talked into me. Back in 2012/2013 I built a pair of computers ready for my Wife and I to move into our first home. Spec as follows:- Gigabyte GA-H61M-DS2 Motherboard Intel i7 3770 16GB DDR3 1333MHz Ram 500GB SATA 2.5" SSD ATI Radeon R9 270X GPU Plus various HDD's...

OCI when looking at history of a used car

We've had 15-20k oil change intervals here in Europe for 20+ years now with no real issues as such. Make of that what you will.

So Volvo progress has been slow thanks to me tearing my peroneal tendon. But there is a small update. The car is now over 150k and still plodding along reliably and happily. When I installed the new air filter, I noticed the screws holding the airbox together didn't provide much confidence. I...

    Cavity wax spraying?

I didn't realise you were in the UK too! Do yourself a favour and get yourself Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 for the cavities and Bilt Hamber Dynax UC or UB for the underside. I've tried all sorts over the years and nothing comes close to the Dynax range!

    Dipetane

That was kind-of my feeling. But I've seen countless stories about people failing their emissions tests, sticking this in the tank, going for a drive and then passing with flying colours! It must do something, but if it does do something, why make such outlandish claims and destroy credibility...

    Dipetane

I think this is what I'm struggling with most of all. It shouldn't do anything based off of the utter tripe spouted on their website, but it clearly does something.

Bit of a weird one this. We have a number of diesel cars in the household, and I've always used some kind of additive with every fill. Often these additives are just 2-EHN with some kind of lubricant. Some of them, such as my regular Archoil 6900-D Max advertise their lubricant as being a high...
