Question on 'flushing' an AC system?

I wouldn't bother flushing anything if it's just that the clutch on the compressor is bad. Which seems to be what your LIMITED troubleshooting is suggesting.

Question on 'flushing' an AC system?

I have flushed with the AutoZone kit before. I think it worked fine, car got totaled a few months later so I will never really know, lol

2003 Honda Accord 235k km Camshaft lobe wear. Could this be due to 0W-20 ?

I used 5w30 in my 2010 Odyssey and it had similar heavy wear on one or two of the intake cams. Not real uncommon with high-mileage Odysseys from that time. I think it's a metallurgy issue.

AC blows HOT after tightening steering rack bolts

I missed this thread when it was originally posted - does your AC run "HOT AS BLAZES!!" or does it just not cool? If it is indeed hot as blue blazes - if it feels like someone turned it to full hot, then it's certainly a blend door problem. If your compressor is not running and you have even...

opinions on the root cause of this exhaust valve failure

Why would an exhaust valve failing to fully open lead to a burned valve? I thought they were caused by a valve failing to fully close.

    oil filter tightness question

This has always been my experience - getting it to the minimum of the recommended range requires quite a bit of effort. IME - if you really try to hit the "3/4 to 1 turn" you may end up with filters that are a little too tight for easy removal. I just go strictly by feel now and I'm probably...

The Prius is one heck of a name plate

Civic Hybrid is a similar car that does 0-60 a second faster. My experience with hybrids (Prius and Accord Hybrid) is that they are great in stop-n-go traffic. The in-town acceleration is fine, but they not fun at all on twisty roads - a lot of rubber-band feel when you're powering out of a corner.

Just witnessed a wheel fly off a car!

This is going to get off topic, but I have had issues with lug nuts loosening if they are dry and corroded and torqued to spec. I would rather have them lubed a bit and potentially have too high of a cleaning force.

Case study: Chemical cleaning stuck rings to eliminate oil burning

Well, I found a SDS, which replaced MSDS, and I think it might have been zero xylene on the SDS, and I was looking at an obsolete MSDS. Clearly, I'm confused!

Just witnessed a wheel fly off a car!

I was driving north in the left lane on the outer loop freeway in my Ranger and a wheel bounded over the concrete divider, bounced a couple of times in front of me and slammed into my hood. It bounced off the hood and landed behind me. It set off my airbag and put a big dent in the radiator...

How come ac lifespan is so short on cars?

So here is a list of reasons I think car a/c units are less reliable than home ac: 1. vibration 2. road debris damage 3. car a/c has clutch that can wear or fail - home a/c is switched electrically 4. exposed compressor shaft is harder to seal and will wear 5. must accommodate engine movement...

How come ac lifespan is so short on cars?

I'm not sure, but I think an electric compressor ought to be easier to seal. Home refrigerant compressors in home ACs and fridges are hermetically sealed, whatever that means. So they don't leak.
