Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

I kept all the oil that came out of every drain and fill I've done on the Trans so far. I meant to send samples off for analysis but haven't acquired the kits yet. You'd be forgiven for thinking these were all samples from the same fluid but there it is, 1st D&F of the OE ATF at 112k, 2nd at...

What OTC Fuel injector cleaner should I try?

Seems crazy to me that a forum dedicated to fuel and fuel additives has so many people being smart asses and saying "skip the additives and do it properly" like ok thanks Chad, but that's not the question! Such a weird thing to care about on THIS forum.

    Valvoline Advanced vs Extended Protection

I'm sure it doesn't count for nothing, that both engines were run to 500k miles. That's not a small number, even in a lab.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

What's your thoughts on why there should be any difference? Just curious as to how your brain works, I too like to use 90 NE but I'm not sure the price difference between that and 93 E10 is worth it.

Do you have a favorite fuel?

In TX I liked QT. Here in Upstate NY, it's whatever is cheapest and convenient between Sunoco, Valero and Citgo, all Top Tier, all offer premium fuels.

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

You right. 30k servicing should do. As for how long we'll keep this car, idk. My Intent is for as long as possible, whatever that looks like, however far it takes us. Whether it last 150k or less, or 250k and more.

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

3rd Drain and Fill I need to look into that cooler line exchange method y'all was talking about for future maintenance on the Trans. Otherwise, I was thinking (kinda asking too) that a Drain and Fill every 15k miles ensures most of the fluid is replaced every 30k miles, which I thought was like...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I tried this today and it worked really good! The line where the oil level is on the dip stick was the most clear of anything I tried. Thank you for the recommendation 👍

2022 Nissan Titan - Fluid recommendations?

I use BG EPR for my flushes, and just today I tried Liqui Moly Pro-Line Flush. The latter was $22 at my local AZ, but you can get EPR for $16 on Amazon and I just saw a 2-Pack of the LM for $31 there too. With nothing to back up what I'm about to say, I believe the BG cleans better, but it's...

    Post your latest oil change

Today was a great day to go outside and do some maintenance. That Gumout MSTU was a stand-in for the Techron I added to the tank this morning and promptly threw away, forgetting i wanted to do this shot. I blasted CRC into the intake for the first time since my second oil change with the VRP...

I found opening the oil filter neck works for me about the same. It's actually part of the instructions for certain other Hyundai Kia vehicles.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

The dipstick on my car doesn't have different markings for hot or cold measurements, but I always check in the same two places (work and home, no discernable difference), using the hot reading, per the manual, which roughly says something like "get engine to operating temp, shut off, check after...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Aside from the insinuation I'm not already doing these things, I strongly disagree these factors could lead to a difference of more than a few ounces. And that's how I feel until I see evidence to the contrary.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Kinda disheartened by the consumption fluctuating so much. Check out my notes: (I should have started this sooner) " 11/18, 117,353 miles 568 miles and 23 hrs since top off - added 1 qt 11/14, 116,785 miles 670 miles and 28hrs since top off - added 1 qt " So over the last 1200...

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

Pictures are from today. I'm Over 4000 miles on my third fill of the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 in my 2019 Kia Sportage (2.4) sitting at 117k. I'm doing 5,000 miles OCIs and will change the oil this weekend. Kinda disheartened by the consumption fluctuating so much. Check out my notes...

2 Valvoline Restore & Protect tests

I think some of these products have a lot of synergy. I used BG EPR for the first and second oil change to the VRP. I haven't tore the engine down for a before and after but I do feel that the BG and products like it are great for removing softer carbon build up, while the VRP can go to work on...

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

1qt/500 miles But it didn't happen immediately after the first change. It actually wasn't until after about half way through the second change I noticed any reduction in oil consumption.

I suppose when you put it that way, you're right. Hopefully the engine doesn't implode on me. I think I've some people report on here, engine seizures in Theta IIs that had no issues before, including oil consumption.
