    Post your latest oil change

You put in Asmoil SS at 1700 miles and dumped it at 4900? I get the merits of a short OCI, but why use Amsoil if that's your plan? And it's not like your truck is burning oil or anything like my 2017 Sonata was when I tried Amsoil SS. I used it in a vain attempt to combat the oil consumption...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

I used Berryman B12, I have a post about my piston soak on this site too. And I'm familiar with the TSB you mentioned. I'm didn't do it that way and will retreat the same way as before, just longer soak time. So how do I get the engine to turn over from the key in the ignition with the plugs...

What's bestline additive? I ask instead of googling because you made it a point to say how long you've been using so I hope you can share some insights beyond products information and reviews

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Ok wise guy, doing a piston soak on my Kia "the same way as any other car" nearly lead to issues. Not to mention everyone's method and procedures are different because it's not a standard maintenance practice on most vehicles (certainly doesn't say in my owners manual). Even searching on...

Conflicting Information from randoms on the Internet

This is in regard to oil filters for Hyundai/Kias with the 2.4L Theta II, should be part number 26300-35505. I'm on google and these forums trying to find definite information about the overall performance (because I know they are of good quality) compared to an aftermarket filter, say FRAM...

    Post your latest oil change

Is that your first Serpentine belt? Also how often do you rotate? Asking for my 2019 Kia Sportage. I got 111k on the odometer, bought used three months ago with 98k

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

Sorry for the crappy quality, my phone doesn't take a good picture, and I've been trying for weeks to get a good shot to upload to this thread. Oil is Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 in my 111k mile 2019 Kia Sportage 2.4L. currently at 2500 miles on this fill, it's been 560 miles since I...

Hyundai 2.4 oil for replacement engine

Sorry that's too good to not say something "iMo YoU sHoUlD bE mOrE wOrRiEd AbOuT tHe EnGiNe..." Well, he's a approaching double that, so I think he has a rare gem in a world of oil drinking and engine seizing Hyundai Kias. Color me impressed and happy for him. There's a 2016 Hyundai Sonata...

New Truck, Short Trips, GDI, Need Advice

On one hand someone who seems as concerned as you do shouldn't have bought a vehicle that's GDI but on the hand if you were going to, you are quite prepared. Joking aside I loved reading that and I respect your thoroughness. I'm not an auto mechanic and I'm not an oil expert, I don't get into...

That one line is so effective and funny because of John Goodman's performance! God I love that movie, I use that quote as much as I can. Few people make the connection though lol

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

How do you do a piston soak on these Kias? YT and forums been fruitless. I don't have a long enough bar to give me leverage but I know I'd have to go in from underneath to rotate the engine. But I thought you had to remove the serpentine belt first. And then there's the concern about timing...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Any updates? I'm very curious because I have over 5000 miles spread across two OCIs with the VRP and two applications with the BG EPR before each oil change on my 2019 Sportage and I'm still losing the same amount. It's new to me, less than 12k miles driven but the odometer was at 98k when...

Difference between budget friendly and Higher priced oil

I would like to see this same test conducted with a known oil burner (and overall liability) like the Theta II, same parameters and oils, but with a 5000-7500 mile OCI (the latter being the OCI recommended by H/K under "normal" driving conditions) over 450,000 miles or so before a tear down to...

Walmart Oil Change Service: "Restore and Protect"

You joke but it does have some impressive rating and reviews on Amazon, I think it's at 4.8 with thousands of purchases. And it's been available less than a year.

    Restore and protect opinions

I think that's why the hundreds of thousands of Hyundai/Kias made in the last 12 years with the Theta II are a perfect test for both of this oil's claimed properties. Though I'm not sure how one measures improvement or "control" on wear over time. If after 5 oil changes (and some other tricks)...
