    Density of motor oil

Rotational viscometers such as HTHS, MRV and CCS report apparent viscosity which is derived from a torque value. There's no conversion from kinematic.

    Procrastinator

I've got some good tips to get passed procrasination. I'll let you in on them early next week, about the same time I'll be cooking tonight's dinner.

Lots of chests puffed out and mussels were being flexed everywhere but when the cops showed everyone clammed up.

Gift for 8 year old boy

Gift decisions are something that my wife always took care of. This year is my first to attempt it. I am shopping for two boys, 10 and 5 and I'm not good at it. My parents split gifts between fun stuff and (fun) educational stuff. I bought each a new bike. They are outgrowing their current...

Which oil cleans more: HPL or Valvoline Restore and Protect?

Ask HPL to provide pictures representing their cleaning capability from a comparable study. I'm relatively sure that they won't be able to do it.

Run time on battery powered blowers?

I have three EGO tools with interchangeable 56v batteries and two chargers so battery life is less of a problem.

What is a "Full Synthetic" Oil?

Mobil filed a complaint with the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau. It wasn't really a lawsuit.

    Where is the Common Sense?

This should be on a horror thread. What do you call it, turkopus or octogobble?

    Where is the Common Sense?

A stuffed turkey is safe as long as you cook it to the right temperature. An unstuffed turkey is cooked to a minimum temperature of 165°F. A stuffed turkey is cooked to a stuffing temperature of 165°F minimum in the middle or thickest part of the stuffing. The stuffing shouldn't be packed in the...

    Shortness of breath @7000 ft.

I live at about 34 feet above sea level at the Jersey shore. I before 1997 I worked at 10,000' in the Andes at various copper mines several times without problem. In 1997 I had a massive heart attack at 43 y.o. When I began travelling back to that region and altitude I struggled to just walk let...

Can Vacuum Pump Oil be used in an Air Compressor?

If you look at the SDS it says the Robinair oil is 100% CAS 64742-54-7 which is just mineral oil? What no rust or oxidation inhibitors? I think compressing air makes more heat so I would want to prevent oxidation. Both accumulate water so I would want some rust protection.

James Bond movies on Amazon Prime

GOLDFINGER or as the song goes, GOLDFINGA... I saw my first Bond film with my father when I was 12 in 1965. When I saw those silhouetted swimming women I was hooked. Does the Amazon collection include the 1967 Casino Royale with David Niven playing Bond ?

    limited use of tungsten disulfide?

I'm curious as to how a bicycle chain creates the pressure (temperature) to cause the tungsten disulfide to exfoliate or "bloom" and act as an EP additive. At the reported exfoliation initiation temperature, the wax would melt and run off, evaporate and leave deposits. Maybe at low temperatures...

    HPL, Redline and Schaeffers

The only real question would be the value of the data from initial used oil analysis after a change of chemistry. My background includes formulating and field trialing motor oils in high horsepower diesels used in ultra haul trucks and mobile equipment used at mine sites. When we set up motor...

    HPL, Redline and Schaeffers

The experiment may be faulty. You probably need to get to a common base line before starting your test and between the test oils. Surface active chemicals in the oils will leave an active wear prevention film on surfaces that will impact subsequent test oils. You will get better, more realistic...
