Just did an oil change with HPL Engine Cleaner 30......now what to test/analyze?

Oil analysis may not have any real value to you. It will give you information on metallic additive content, wear metals and possibly some minor residual metallics. However, routine analysis won't really give you information on sludge or varnish removal which is often the point of using the cleaner.

Let’s talk about wear scar diameter.

The test specimen configuration is the same for both the wear and EP tests. The ASTM D2266 Four Ball Wear Test is run at 1200 rpm @ 40 kgf applied load @ 75°C for 60 minutes. The reportable result is the average scar diameter in millimeters. The ASTM D2596 Four EP Test pertinent test data are...

    Timken Grease

People talk about compatibility of thickeners as though it was the only consideration. This is not true. At issue are also base fluid and additive compatibility resulting in reduction or loss of function. I have tested many greases containing what were supposed to be compatible thickeners, even...

Proving that an oil meets spec

The warranty point is one of the most important questions asked. Another question is criticality of equipment, that is, what equipment is critical to the operation while the others are less critical. The oil needs to meet the requirements of the units under warranty or that are more critical to...

    Tough Chicken

If I bite into a fibrous chicken breast you'll get a bit of a dry heave. If I bite into a nice chuck of beef fat you'll get a full body dry heave. If I bite into a big chunk of beef gristle or sinew you'll get a technicolor yawn.

Mix Lucas Xtra Heavy Duty with Lucas Marine Grease

True compatibility of greases is determined by several factors and not just looking at a compatibility chart. Testing of several blends is required. The blends are (in percent) 100:0, 10:90, 50:50, 90:10 and 0:100. Mechanical stability of all of these blends is estimated by changes between 60...

How would you defrost this SUV?

If you read my second post I said exactly what you are saying. My first post was to get a response from an earlier poster. Wind chill is a perceived effect on skin. A machine will only reach the true air temperature. Wind only effects the speed at which the happens.

How would you defrost this SUV?

"Cars don't feel wind chill" is my point. Wind chill is an effect on skin. If a machine is exposed to wind in a cold temperature it will cool to air temperature faster than if there was no wind but no lower.

How would you defrost this SUV?

Why no wind chill, for the sake of the car or of the person doing the work?
