Factoring in the cost to drive to the store or shipping I go for what I can get at my nearby Walmart where I shop regularly. A special trip to an auto store adds to the cost and time, and time is money! At WM Fram TG and XG fit that price point. Not 100% sure now that Fram has removed the wire...
Many moons ago I did a lot of bike touring on 10-speeds, but I noted that 90% of the day was spent in just a few gears. Steep terrain is where the extra gears are needed the most. For around town and short jaunts a 3 or 5-speed is great! I have some old 3-speed bikes that still work perfectly...
I personally hate the lack of visibility in most modern cars. They seem to be designed with the assumption that drivers won't be paying attention anyway so we have to build a cage around them. I'd much rather avoid the accident in the first place. Foresters have better visibility than most.

I use Google Photos on my Samsung phone and get a link to the video that I send to iPhone users. They click the link and see a quality video. But, they always send me stupid iPhone videos directly that are almost impossible to make out. Stick with the ecosystem your family uses. You'll miss...
The AWD system is quite amazing in slow ice conditions. We had a freezing rain coat everything with a thin layer of skating rink ice. I couldn't walk uphill to get out of my sister-in-law's driveway but she was able to drive her Subaru slowly up the icy slope. The problem comes when people use...
Because these cars have vast computing power compared to my puny battery charge controllers that have been around and working perfectly for decades. Sure, there are optimum regimens, but the computers should take care of figuring them out.
I really don't understand why anyone should have to think about charging regimens. It should just require you to plug it in and forget it. Different systems and batteries, but I have used solar panels and controllers on big boat battery banks for thirty years and they just charge the batteries...
I hope Tesla's success changes the car buying process for the better. Younger people just won't buy stuff unless they can do it online and have it delivered. Car companies will lose if they don't adapt and get rid of the old-school dealer nightmare process.
What are your main subjects? For general photography purposes I'd get a Pixel phone. Google's processing produces the most pleasing colors, lighting, contrast IMHO.
Though I always wonder how many filters fail and we never know. Unless you're cutting your filters regularly you probably would have no idea in most cases. After all, a lot of vehicles ran with no oil filters before they became a thing. Not saying it is a good thing, just that oil filtration may...
This thread points out once again how many humans willfully put themselves in danger on the road for no reason and no gain. As a motorcycle rider I am highly tuned to watch for vehicles that aren't signaling that could potentially kill me, and it amazes me how often it happens. Or, even worse...
It's been awhile, but I switched away from the Fl-820s after cutting them open and observing very wavy pleats. Went to Fram Ultras, but they now have lost their wire backing. Personally, I think the wavy pleat problem is greatest on filters pulled after a long winter with many cold starts. In...
Will it have any trade-in value after say 10-15 years if the battery is shot? Here in the great Northeast ICE daily driver cars last about 20 years before rust ends their useful life. If BEVs can make 20 years with decent range still left there will be a reasonable used market.
Maybe. Maybe not. What if Toyota's solid-state battery technology has taken over by then? Your car with old tech batteries requiring different charging systems, regimens, apps, and software might become a very large paper weight at that point.
