Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

There is no "gas subsidy". Correct. But we live in a State Capitalist Economy pretending to be a Free Market Capitalist Economy. No endeavor of substance is undertaken without government blessing with generous funds, grants, rule changes, and tax breaks. No apartment complex, no shopping...

Tesla was selling Clean Air Credits which are only bankable in states which follow CARB rules.

I have been paying $200/year "EV fee" to Alabama for many years. Up to $203 in 2023 and increases $3 every 4 years. This is the gas tax equivalent of 21,000 miles at 30 MPG. The EV owner is getting soaked.

Tell me more about the "remote shut-offs that were found in a ton of Chinese sourced industrial solar panels" as this is the first I have heard of this. And never knew there was any network connection or smarts in the solar panel. I do know about all the holes being found in Chinese sourced...

My "availability fee" here is $17.23 and $0.113870/kWh. Is a bit more at the new house where I'm not too happy at the grossly simplified utility invoice which takes an 8.5"x11" sheet to say, "You used X kWh and owe us $Y". Doesn't specify cost per kWh (which varies with TVA's "fuel surcharge")...

"Incremental Cost" is heavily emphasized in Industrial Engineering courses. An "availability fee" or other base subscription cost does not apply to an added user of the service because you were going to pay it anyway, for powering the home. While it seems "fair" to distribute the cost to the EV...

Some years ago they were offering $99/mo leases in CARB states. And auction lots were covered with 2 year old off-lease 500e going begging for $4900.

If you spend 10-12 hours in a car and don't get out to walk and stretch then you are a driving hazard.

Higher voltage only results in smaller wires, bigger insulation. Just because a car with "800v" might deliver "meaningful trip time reduction" does not mean that was due to "800v". As you say, "much larger batteries" are also found. The way to put 100 miles of range into a battery faster is to...

I don't believe people making statements such as, "Or I can get 400 miles in 5 minutes at any gas station" have actually timed how long it takes to divert from one's route, pull into a station, pump gas, pay for it, and resume the route. You are just guessing and ignoring the parts which do not...

Oh, so everything electric is "voltage" and voltage is everything. An 80V string trimmer is twice as good as a 40v string trimmer because "voltage". Got it. 9.6v cordless tools displaced by superior 12v tools. 12v displaced by 14.4v. 14.4v displaced by 18v. 18v displaced by 20v... If only we had...

That is only recent funding. Since Ford, GM, and others converted to Tesla's NACS, and Tesla has started adding CCS to Supercharger sites, Tesla qualifies for government largesse. But Tesla did not get any help building the Supercharger network prior to Ford's conversion. Back when the...

That is not a list of subsidies. You claim Space X is given funds for other than services rendered. Please specify. You claim to know this. And again, what funding channel is giving Musk Federal funds for AI R&D? Same for Starlink, this was built over government objection. It qualified for...

That is the wrong way to calculate cost to operate. Do it $/mile. My Model Y is using less than 0.25 kWh/mile from the grid according to TeslaFi.com. So at your $0.17/kWh it is $0.0425/mile. If gasoline is $3.00/gallon then one has to get 70 MPG to break even.

Your revisionist history. The initial EV tax credit for 200,000 vehicles per manufacturer dried up for Tesla about 2016. Tesla still dominated the EV market against all competition which still qualified for the Federal tax credit. The EV tax credit didn't reappear for Tesla until Biden. Yet...
