Automotive AC troubleshooting 101 - help me get started?

As a shade tree, couldn't you just use like ~50psi or so off a air compressor? That should be plenty for a soap spray test. Not perfect, but access to 100psi of nitrogen is limited. You need to replace dessicant and pull a vacuum anyways which will boil off the water.

    3 fund portfolio

My "growth" fund was TWCUX. I switched to FBGRX which is a comparable Fidelity offering. I like the 3 fund idea but I think you need to change the funds based on your time until retirement. It also depends if the assets are in a tax sheltered account. Becuase if you sell and buy to change...

They are easily flat towed without extra equipment. Which is one of the reasons you see alot of them behind motorhomes.

Cooked wall switch... Scary. Please come in...

Amateur opinion is the wires not wrapped around the screws are causing a high resistance. Not enough surface area. The contact area the electricity is traveling across is just the tangent of the wire. I would be inspecting every switch and outlet in the house after seeing that.

    Home renovation DIY help

For interior paint I have found the best value to be the Glidden premium (redclabel) in the 5 gallon pail from Homedepot or Pitsburg Pro from menards. Buy that and 3/4" nap roller and do 2 coats. It did a nice job and is cheap. Sherwin Williams super paint is super nice but for me the price...

    Home renovation DIY help

Best advice I have is figureout what is worth DIY and what isn't. Example, painting is worth DIY every quote I have had for interior paint is stupid expensive. Carpet - not worth DIY. You need special tools and some experience. The cost is all in the materials. Install is cheap and fast they...

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to replace the minimum to quality for the ac compressor warranty. 2015 Forester AC Compressor Leak

AC went out on the Forester this week. The oil stain on the pulley and spray pattern around it tells me the shaft seal failed. Hoses and condenser all look dry. I was going to replace only the compressor, hose orings, and recharge. But got to thinking the hoses and condenser are 10 years old...

I am replacing slide pin boots on every brake pad change

I clean and re-grease the slide pins at least 2x a year on all the cars. Do it while rotating the tires. It is essential if you live in areas with snow and salt.

    Opinion article- Landfill economy

I'm pretty sure landfills and junkyards have existed for >100 years. I wonder if cavemen ever made a new spear instead of repairing their old one? Warranties are out of control. You have to be savvy and determine if you will actually be able to use the warranty. Consumers are also out of...

What if GON and Astro14 had a baby?

Not for aviation of course, but it is huge amount of money. I do appreciate that some guys decided to make it their problem to 1st convince a bunch of people to spend alot of money to figure out if it could be done. I'm assuming they spent at least $1m to study this thing and make a plan...

Also, the nose dolly cart with the positioning lifts probably cost more than 90% of the projects I have been involved in 🤣
