iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

That makes sense. I will mount it on the dash where the A pillar is blocking the view anyway. Any recommendations on a good holder?

iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

Here are pics of the phone mount. Where the mount is now, it cannot be swivelled any closer to the driver because of the shifter. The phone does not face me directly. I am considering moving the mount under the steering wheel, as marked by the red arrow. I don't want to mount it on top of the...

iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

I changed the auto-lock settings to NEVER. Not sure what is going to happen now. Does the phone turn off after a period of non-use to save battery life? Does the phone stay unlocked even after turning off?

iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

My phone won't stay unlocked. Once it turns off after a minute to save battery life, it needs either passcode or Face ID to unlock. I don't plug in my phone in the truck. My issue is that the phone is mounted somewhat away from me. I will post a pic. I will have to shift the mount to get the...

iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

I want the security but also would like to turn on my phone while driving. Touch ID would have worked but apparently Touch ID was eliminated when Face ID was enabled on iPhones.

iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

For the longest time I had my iPhone 13 turn on without needing a passcode or Face ID. Now that I use Apple Wallet I have to have Face ID enabled. This is annoying when the phone is in its dash mounted holder and I need to turn on an app like Google Maps. The phone is too far away for Face ID...

    4' Tube LED's VS 4' Tube Fluorescent ?

I have installed many Sylvania Ledlescent tubes into fixtures that had fluorescents in them, for customers over the years. The Ledlescents do not use a ballast and are wired directly into 120V. They are brighter than the fluorescents and not a single one has failed so far. Highly recommend them.

    I Like Annoying Aggressive Drivers

You missed the RED light. I don't leave a large gap when there is a green or yellow light. Nobody is missing a light because of me. I am among the quickest to take off when the light turns green. I watch the opposing lights to know when my lights are about to go green and have my truck in gear...

    I Like Annoying Aggressive Drivers

Let me clarify. I don't go out of my way to annoy aggressive drivers but I react poorly to aggressive behaviour, whether during driving or in life in general. If the driver behind me is annoyed that I am not doing the throttle/brake/throttle/brake routine and begins tailgating in an effort to...

    I Like Annoying Aggressive Drivers

I am sure some Bitogers will think I am a horrible person and a control freak, hopefully they are in a minority. In stop and go traffic, I pick the appropriate gear in my truck and let the engine idle along moving the truck at a steady speed. Which leads to the gap in front of me varying -...

Cashiers/Monitors at Self Checkouts in Grocery Stores.

I use the "skip bagging" option when I have a lot of items and there is not enough room on the scale for the scanned items.

Cashiers/Monitors at Self Checkouts in Grocery Stores.

So many error messages show up on the screen while checking out, like "unexpected item" etc. This morning a new one showed up - scale not zeroed. Made me wonder if these are genuine or if the Cashier overlooking the self checkouts can trigger these messages just as a cover for her to come over...

CO Detector To check CO Content In Vehicle Exhaust

You probably would have had better results if you had just used the CO detector in your house. There is a bit of a lag though, the detector takes about thirty seconds to respond.

CO Detector To check CO Content In Vehicle Exhaust

Works pretty well. Readings go up to 400ppm when the Honda CBR300 is first started up and is running in open loop and the reading goes down to zero once the engine warms up and goes into closed loop. It shows the catalytic converter working well and that is why I have not eliminated it,though I...

    Taking Apart Toe-Nailed Lumber

Got it done, I replaced the lattice this morning. I have a Dremel MultiMax oscillating tool. and I tried both a carbide tipped toothed blade and a bimetal blade. The bimetal blade cut the nails much faster than the carbide one. That surprised me.
