How Well Do Knipex Cobra Pliers Work As Pipe Wrenches?

Pipe wrenches have a self clinching action that really bites into the pipe when torque is applied. Channellocks sure don't and cannot be used to apply a lot of torque to pipe. Do the Cobras bite into the pipe as well as pipe wrenches?

    6 mm Allen wrench

As mentioned by jhellwig, cut off an allen wrench and then wrap masking tape where your two fingers are going to grip it. As much tape as can be applied because the larger the dia of the taped section the easier it is to turn

Aging, loss of strength, and large bikes (like a Harley)

You did not read my thread about picking up dropped bikes https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/had-difficulty-picking-up-my-dropped-cbr300.386541/ At 65 years of age, the BMW R80 was getting a bit too heavy for me, so I sold it and bought the CBR300

    Luggage Box For CBR300R

Bike with the rear seat removed. There is enough frame under the seat to mount a box solidly. Mounting the box sideways is a good suggestion that I had not considered, but will probably end up doing.

    Luggage Box For CBR300R

I need a large one, 50 to 60L size, to carry tools. Must be hard case since I need security. I would like to mount it where the rear seat is now, so that it does not project out too much from the back of the bike. I could remove the rear seat. Is such a box available?

Underbody Flushing - Actually Worth It

My results were the exact opposite. I bought a new Mazda B1600 truck in 1982 and washed it thoroughly most Sundays in the winter. Had to scrap the truck in 1996 because it was completely rusted out. Of course, the quality of the steel Mazda used had to do a lot with it. With my present 19 year...

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

All this was prompted by the difficulty in starting the bike up this spring. I posted about it here https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/why-does-low-cranking-rpm-cause-no-start.393525/#post-7190217 Wanted to make sure that the starter was not on its way out.

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

I was considering that I might be making an error interpreting the scope traces and maybe missing a factor of 2 and the engine was being cranked over at 210 rpm. I got my phone out and ran the timer so that I could get an exact feel for a second. Cranked the engine over in Clear Flood Mode and...

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

10W30. Not Honda but Mobil Delvac Super 10W30. Used in our trucks at work, so an obvious choice of oil for me. My Sierra will crank over at 150 rpm under the same conditions. Since the Honda starter sounded lazy to me, I was expecting a cranking speed of around 120 rpm. The 420 rpm came as a...

Wash and oil core at least twice daily

The air filter element on my nineteen year old Sierra has been replaced just once. It will go to its grave on its second air filter element. Of course the fact that I live in a relatively dust free city helps a lot. Looking over my fifty years of owning vehicles, the progress the automotive...

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

I hooked up a scope to check on the compression, health of the starter and the new battery and was surprised to find that the cold engine, at 5C ambient temperature, was cranking over at 420rpm, Wasn't expecting it to be this high, especially since the reason for checking was that I thought the...

Why Does Low Cranking Rpm Cause No Start?

You are right. I assumed that the crank sensor on the Honda would be a Hall Effect sensor but the wiring diagram shows it to be a two wire sensor. At low rpm it mght not generate much voltage.

People gas it so you cant switch lanes?

If you have closed up the gap between you and the car in front, then nobody is butting in, however hard they try

    Bought A Mighty Max Battery

For my 2015 CBR300R. The ten year old Yuasa YTX7L-BS wasn't able to crank the engine over well when I got the bike out of winter hibernation. I have a Midtronics PB200 Conductance tester and the Yuasa tested at 140 CCA when it was new. Both the Yuasa and the Mighty Max are rated at 100 CCA. The...

People gas it so you cant switch lanes?

I let drivers in if there they have a genuine need to merge, as opposed to those trying to get ahead of other drivers. For the second category I close up the distance so they cannot come in. What helps if you are trying to discourage someone cutting in is staying to the extreme right of your...

    Bought a 100oz Silver Bar

I sleep soundly at night with no concerns whatsoever about someone breaking in to steal my silver. I alos have a new hobby now - first thing when I wake up in the morning is check Silver price. It is going up nicely. Bought my first bar at $4940Cdn and the price today is $5290Cdn - that is a...

Why Does Low Cranking Rpm Cause No Start?

I have not added any gas to the tank and the bike is running well and back to its normal two second crank for starting. I suspect I flooded the engine and got the plugs wet the first time around. Clear Flood mode kicks in if the throttle is opened all the way and I tried it and did not help...

Why Does Low Cranking Rpm Cause No Start?

Got the bike started up today. Boosted it and sprayed starting fluid into the air intake (using a 3/4 PVC bend to guide the fluid in since the intake is recessed) and it fired up after about fifteen seconds of cranking.

Why Does Low Cranking Rpm Cause No Start?

Thanks, Jim. You have nicely stated all the reasons why the mixture might not light. Thanks to the other respondents too.
