Just my view, and I am not an oil “expert”. My 2019 is running PUP 0w20. So far not a drop of oil loss. I do not run hard but only do short trips (severe service). One thing I cannot stress more… When things happen wrong, do not blame it on your oil choice. The oil should match your OM...

Dragsters use 0w5, lots of HP but short duration.

Change oil filter and severe service OCI is there too… Forget that 20,000 mile claim.

So… just cause I am learning am I safe to say anti wear is a function of moly?

Do they give lower viscosity 0w20 oil a pass versus a 5w30 on the Teost 33 or similar deposit test? Seems high moly is normal in low viscosity.

Being here to learn I give you what I know. On the Stribeck curve EP additives are used on the boundary zone and FM additives are used in the mixed zone. The boundary zone has adhesive and corrosive wear. I am thinking because some oil additives are heat activated they are EP additives. But...

At minute 3.15 He says the piston comes from an engine that Toyota had a “campaign” on the engine(#?) 2007-09. They replaced the pistons on that engine. He says due to low tension piston rings. Costly admitted Toyota issue to change out. Kudos to Toyota to step up. But not spec. 0w16…

Kinda put what you said to what he said but the oil control rings can carbon up and stick. Locking up on one side it can dig into one side of the cylinder. For me that video sinks in cause I do a lot of short trips. My OCI is 6 months and has nothing to do with mileage. Absolutely zero oil loss.
