Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

No idea, OF4622 only crosses to a 6607 / 4612 Which are Honda/Nissan aftermarket applications

    Multiple oil filters cut open

Lower number of pleats means less media area would also mean higher fluid face velocity and pressure delta acting on the media compared to the same filter with more pleats. I don't understand First Brands manufacturing inconsistency, I do think it does play a factor, even if its very minor...

Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

Bonus photo, comparing assembly quality to a FRAM FE8688 and Tokyo Roki Subaru OEM filter. Need to put up a display shelf of all the virgin filters in my garage. This one is worthy of it lol.

Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

Only 6607 size since jobber filters are usually one size to fit all. OF4622 / HP4622 is the crossref. Finally someone here gets what I was trying to show the other day. First time seeing a FRAM wire backed filter fail because of extreme cheapening going on with First Brands. Same baseplate...

    Multiple oil filters cut open

Media on one side of the pleats is shedded and dislodged from the potting. I did pull the pleats with my finger and some of them wiggle freely at the root as you'd experienced from a torn filter. Usually with wire backed filters they're always strongly fixed to the potting from many samples...

Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

Alright, here's the autopsy. Very good assembly quality, counted 56 pleats! There is a metal crimp seam on the inside facing the inner tube like how many PG filters are assembled. Media element height is 2 inches tall from endcap to endcap. As expected the can is thick like many PG made...

Service Champ High Performance Synthetic HP4459, unexpected find

I bought these recently after my potential disappointment with the FRAM Endurance FE9688 that came out of my WRX, filter C&P which is posted in another thread. With the Endurance now gone from Walmart I thought I'd give Premium Guard made filters a try. Scored a case of 12 for around 35 bucks...

Here are some more photos after 3 days of drying with absorbent towels... I'll let you guys be the judge if this filter was in the process of failing or not...

    Multiple oil filters cut open

This one has a 2024 date code. The other ones I've cut opened in the past were all 2023. Kinda bummer, penny pinching BOM cost on a premium product makes it not so premium lol.

    Multiple oil filters cut open

Gonna tear off the endcaps later after a few days of drying. The media seems fine, just that the pleating around the glue potted area appeared to be squeezed in. Its hard to tell from the photos so I'll try to get some clearer pics later on. I have few FE9688s cut opened before and they...

Some extra photos. Must've been some serious pressure delta this filter encountered...

    Multiple oil filters cut open

I'm gonna need a second opinion on this, this is the media after a day of drying with absorbent towels. It seems like the media more than being mangled also got dislodged from the potting glue? Its hard to tell if its a tear but this filter has some strange attributes. It's pleat count is...

My Walmart has dropped the Endurance for a new 20k Purolator

Looks like all the FRAM Endurance got replaced by Purolators at my local Walmart Didn't see any on clearance, gone like the dodo. The new Mobil1 filters are PG made but for 12 bucks is kinda killer when you can get a MicroGard Select for 2 dollars less. I ended up getting a LX7317 for the...

    Multiple oil filters cut open

FRAM Endurance FE9688, came out of the 2022 WRX, this was out of the car for a while since I got busy and lazy to post. Been sitting for about a month in the garage. Oil reeks of gasoline but the can was clean with virtually no deposits was running HPL PCMO 5W-30 for a little over 6000 miles...

    Multiple oil filters cut open

Luber Finer, PH488 came out of my neighbor's 2019 Chevrolet Spark. Cute car with such a big filter at least compared to Toyota and Honda s. Leaf spring was smooth and flat compared to the Endurance that came out of my WRX. Nitrile ADBV was hard and stiff.

Are drilled and slotted rotors worth the cost?

Since you're towing and moving heavy loads, brake pad compound is gonna be more important here, some brands sell severe duty semi-metallic pads for your application. As for rotors there is some merit to slotted rotors as someone that formerly drives 100 miles per day encountering various road...

    Fram PH3600 C&P. Pending tear?

Yeah the Drive series filters from FRAM are champ made for AAP, identical to GM AC Delco just painted orange. The PH3600 is a classic FRAM. Not sure if FirstBrands decided to fully consolidate the Extra Guard line to Champ designs but as far as I've seen at walmart the 4967 and 7317 have...

My Walmart has dropped the Endurance for a new 20k Purolator

I'm not impressed, looks like a rebadged cheapened WIX XP, the rendering art of the filters internals looks the same as the newer WIX XP box art.

In Light Driving Conditions Would You Notice Difference in 5w-20 vs 0w-30 - Subaru BRZ

Depends on what type of driver you really are, most JDMs don't care much what oil you put in it as long it meets ILSAC. If you drive it hard and spirited, anything 0W-30 / 5W-30 or higher would do fine. If it was me, who would probably track the vehicle seasonally. I'd run 0W-40 or 5W-40...

Fram Ultra XG2 C&P.. New Unused

Can you tear the media to see if its wired back or not? These fat filters normally have very deep pleats.
