    1965 442 value guidance

In later 1964, DeLorean's GTO was killing it. Other makes scrambled to pull together something to compete. Olds took the Police Option for the Holiday A Body (dual sway bars, 7:75-14 rubber, 330 V8, posi rear) and called it the "442" option on the Holiday. My understanding is, Olds also...

    1965 442 value guidance

Car has never been detailed, but I did have the front seat vynal and foam replaced by one of the best. Original carpet, etc. Always garaged.

    1965 442 value guidance

Runs fine. I made a couple of mistakes; I replaced the original cam and lifters with a mild aftermarket and put an Edelbrock Performer and Q-Jet on. The 4-Jet needs help. I am still kicking myself... Also had the trans rebuilt, but it leaks. Junk-Away with switch pitch torque converter.

    1965 442 value guidance

I believe you are right, but selling a collector like this takes time and effort. At 72, my capabilities are not what they were. I would like to see the car go to someone who appreciates it; this guy does. I also believe the 60's muscle cars' value will decline as my generation declines...

    1965 442 value guidance

This is a rust free CA car. 2 speed JunkAway trans. Special order bench seat; most 442s were buckets with console. In '65, Cutlass was a trim option to the Holiday; car has the Cutlass option. This is a 2 door post car, 2 tone blue with white hard top.

    1965 442 value guidance

At the Petaluma Salute to American Graffiti car show, a guy had a 65 442 that was resto modded. I told him we have one the the most original 65 442s left. He just offered me $15K, sight unseen. What is a car like this worth? 97K original miles, bought by wifey's father. I have the Fremont...

    F1 The Movie

We rarely go to the movies after COVID. Wifey suggested F1, something about that cute Brad Pitt? I don't know much about F1, or racing in general. Saw it in IMAX. Loved it. Now I gotta read up on F1.

2011 Camry Drain Plug too tight! Dang you Toyota.

Astro, you're just being logical again. I haven't messed it up enough yet. I will go to the Toyota dealership tomorrow morning for the plug, but with my luck on this thing ....

Rare waterfront home under $700k USD in California

Yeah, the property footprint is small especially in the high tech areas. The value is in the land, not the dwelling. Our primary house is older, 1962 I think, and is in a bit more rural part of the Valley, if you can call it that. So my property is bigger than average suburban properties. I've...

Rare waterfront home under $700k USD in California

And you get that way because of the opportunity here. I ain't going nowhere... What's funny, at least to me, is people who decide to sell around here to get a bigger place elsewhere. I ask them, "Who's gonna clean it?"

Local Mandate for state inspection dropped

In CA, gas vehicles from 1976 on and diesel from 1998 on require smog checks every 2 years at registration, and at time of transfer, unless 1 has been done within 30 days or something like that. 8 years old and newer do not need smog check at vehicle registration, but you pay an additional fee...

2011 Camry Drain Plug too tight! Dang you Toyota.

My current plan is to use a chisel to break torque, and/or take it to a local shop, 2 of which are outstanding. Of course my plans are apt to change... Or take a spin over to @The Critic and let him bang away at it? He is always willing to help. I am gonna give it another shot, because when it...

    Cordless Tool Batteries

My understanding is, the closest is "assembled in America". Others with better knowledge can chime in.

Rare waterfront home under $700k USD in California

CA, in my experience, is a gold mine. Where else can you squander the 1st 33 years of your life, then get a great state education for a low cost and end up being, well you get the idea. I have 3.5 properties in the greater Silicon Valley; over time you almost cannot go wrong. San Diego is...

    Recommend an ATF Extraction Pump

FYI the MityVac pumps out as well. That's one reason I like it for oil change services; suck it our and pump it into a 5 quart container; easy peasy. This pic has the switch in the out position; down is in (extract).

Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

Here's the Tesla route planner from Maryland to Florida. Of course it depends on your speed, car range, etc. The last time our M3P was on a Supercharger was from Los Gatos to Sac for a baby shower. On the return trip, we drove to SFO (or was it Oakland?) to drop someone for their flight...

    Honda K24 Valvetrain, 135K miles

I use M1 on ours, but I firmly believe in 5K (or less) OCIs. I've serviced 2 friend's 2007 TSXs and both used a little oil between services. These cars had far fewer miles than our 2006 TSX (237K). They followed the Maintenance Minder, which I do not.

Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

Just for fun, what are the start and end points in your 16 hour jaunts? Are they regular trips? If so, your use case is obviously not a fit for an EV. One of the reasons an EV works for me is, if I am going that far I am jumping on Southwest Air. The 50 mile away fact is a non-factor unless you...
