    Honda Giga Casting?

Six large-scale, high-pressure "Gigacasting" presses have been installed by Honda of America at the Anna (Ohio) Engine Plant as a core manufacturing element of the EV Hub the automaker will launch later this year. Honda's EV batteries will be enclosed in high-pressure diecast aluminum cases...

Which Oil Drain Valve do you use? Fumuto? Valvomax?

There are downsides... I bought a retired neighbor's '95ish Camry V6. Took it home and serviced it; the drain broke off leaving the threads in the pan threads. LUCKILY they spun out with a pencil magnet.

    Drove a Juniper today...

Sure it did; they lowered prices and introduced the cheaper Model 3 Standard.. At the time, Tesla was in rapid growth mode; margins were in the 17% range (Porsche territory) and they sold the Model 3 as fast as Fremont could crank them out. Times are different now. Don't get me wrong; Tesla is...

This is a rental car rant

We rented a small Chevy SUV, Trailblazer maybe. Had 14K on the clock. Steering wheel was off about 45 degrees, but it drove straight, mostly. It got good mileage, so there's that. Stop-start... I won't be buying one anytime soon.

    Post your latest oil change

2005 Corolla 142K, 5K OCI and almost a year. Out and In: Kirk 5w30 HM and Toy xxxxxxxxxN1 filter. A while back I found the MityVac works poorly on this engine; it only sucks out 2 quarts or so. I did not have any other tools with me so it had a partial spill-and-fill. The older Michelins hold...

Are German cars safer than Japanese or American cars?

F = MA So yes, I would agree.

    Drove a Juniper today...

Qualify: The tax credit is $7500 based on an income limit of $150K. Lead time: You have to take delivery of your EV before the end of September, I believe. Then the current tax benefit expires. When you order the car, you get a delivery date. There also some cars available immeadiately; demos...

    Drove a Juniper today...

The loss of the tax credit has to have an effect. For many, it will hurt, for me it is likely to help. Last time the tax credit ended, Tesla lowered the price of their cars to help offset the tax credit loss. Since I do not qualify, that would help me. Tesla's margins can absorb some of the $$...

    Drove a Juniper today...

Why? As long if you qualify. Doesn't the website tell you the leadtime?

    Drove a Juniper today...

The Model Y starts at $45K, less the $7500 tax credit, if you qualify. So $37,500 for many. This car's options were the paint, white interior, wheels and FSD which brings it up to $57,500 before tax credit. I would likely buy the base version. You can price out your own Tesla on the website.

    Drove a Juniper today...

A new Tesla store just opened up a few blocks from our house; wifey and I stopped in late in the afternoon today. Young man threw us the keys, key card actually, to a Model Y Long Range RWD . It had the alloy wheels and new Diamond Black paint color. I specifically wanted the single motor car...

Are German cars safer than Japanese or American cars?

As others have said, most cars you can buy in America have to follow strict safety regulations. Having said that, it is up to the owner to make sure tires, brakes, etc are in good condition and working order.

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

Feel free to laugh, but you are laughing at capitalism, entrepreneurism, hard work and success. That's the numbers.

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

So the 4th (or 5th) largest economy, by itself, is not that impressive? What's it take? Yes, we are a very populous state, almost 40M or 12% of the nation. There's a reason for it. We are geographically large and diverse. Like much of America, population is concentrated in a few large areas, LA...

    2025 Dodge Charger Daytona EV

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

Over time, historically, yes. The numbers are undeniable. Has Toyota slipped some? Maybe; dunno for sure. The new Tundra has had more than it's share of trouble. TBT I am not that familiar with their current vehicles beyond wifey's RX. I was a Honda/Toyota buyer for reliability and overall ease...

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

What you are saying is true, but it is also picking outliers, for lack of a better term, to a degree. The Toyota/Lexus brand has the name and numbers for resale, longevity and overall low cost of ownership. Me? I just drove the 60K Camry LE to a friend's place, over the Santa Cruz Mountains...
