How do you keep the inside of your vehicle clean?

Sometimes I move some wood to the cottage and use the chainsaw near by with the doors or windows open. Debris gets all over the place. I secure the loose stuff, open all doors and blow out the van with the leaf blower.

Similar marks on the cam lobes of my 2011 Hyundai. I posted pics here and nobody knew what they were for sure. Suggested they were marks left from a surface grinder.

Anyone ever replace pads on one wheel, but not the other?

A couple of times I have had problems with pads wearing unevenly due to stuck caliper or whatever. Changed one side only and it worked fine.

2GR-FE is pretty easy on oil I guess...

A compromise... You could remove a couple of quarts [suction out of dipstick tube] and replace the 2 quarts with fresh oil.

Best way to clean valves on this direct injection engine?

I have had 2 cars with DI engines. First car went to 250,000 miles, I bought it with 120,000 miles on it. Second car bought with 85,000 miles on it, now has 155,000 miles. They both run fine with no cleaning of the intake valves. IMO the best way to clean the valves is to not do it.

It should work very well. One problem, your shop vac will very much smell of engine oil.

P0420 and bad MPG, what to look at?

P0420 does not necessarily indicate the CAT is plugged. Poor acceleration and lack of power is a better indicator for a plugged CAT. Are you sure the mileage on the highway is only 11.5? Perhaps you have not re-set the lifetime fuel mileage indicator. You want to get on the highway and reset the...

    why OCI's are variable ?

On a highway trip the vehicle covers much more ground in a shorter time. The engine turns over less per mile. RPM more constant and throttle variation is less. All this is easier on the oil, per mile. A good Oil Life Monitor takes this into account. Changing oil by just a mileage figure is an...

2011 Kia Soul bites the dust..

I had a 2011 Elantra Touring with the same engine. Good car. Changed the original belt at 161,000 miles. Old belt looked good. Sold it at 179,000 miles. I guess I dodged a bullet.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 serpentine belt/tensioner/idler pulley

I had a 99 Dodge Caravan with the 3.3. It started throwing belts yet everything looked fine. Tensioner was a 1 year old aftermarket unit. I don't recall the brand but it had a little slop or wobble in the pulley so I replaced it with an OE part. Problem solved! My point is, ...these engines seem...

Under valve cover pics - 06 Toyota matrix

The lighting is different between the two sets of photos so it's hard to tell but I lean slightly towards it's a little cleaner now. You have been diving many miles each year and using good oils. Looks like varnish is very hard to remove. If you are driving a lot on the highway, I wouldn't...
