Another involuntary credit card being closed- Lowes/ Synchrony

go buy something on the card. Go to customer service and return it. Go there to make sure the plumbing works and leave a "deposit". Grab a bottle of water on the way out and pay it off when you get home.

brake pad ears . lube or not

Lube one side of vehicle and not the other. Check in a year or two and see which is better. 😁 Maybe because I haven't used factory pads in forever, I do find some fit/move better than others. Using new stainless shims/mounts I had some pads that did NOT want to go in brand new due to...

    Honda K24 Valvetrain, 135K miles

Valves may need adjustment but the Honda valves get tighter and quieter so a bit noisy is probably better.

    Honda K24 Valvetrain, 135K miles

They didn't repair. They put a brace on it to help keep the trailing arm from ripping off when that rusts away. Hopefully allowing the driver some semblance of control and not crash. The inspection procedure and to see if you can install the brace involves removing the mounting bolts. If they...

    remove window tint

I did the trash bag version on 2 cars. No issues. Defrosters work fine afterward, no scraping with razors. Gets most of the glue at the same time. Any glue left wiped off with rubbing alcohol. The flat black garbage bags work better than the flex one I tried. Some use a clothes steamer, some...

    Post your latest oil change

2008 CRV. Almost 247K on the car, 4511 on the OCI. Early but nice and sunny, no wind, I'm off from work. Her next trip home would probably put it at closer to 6k which still wouldn't be an issue but need something to use up my free time. No makeup oil added. Out - 1qt HPL PCMO 5W-30, 3.5 qts...

    Manual transmission used daily

When I was shopping and got the Accord my first choice was actually a Mazda 6 but was just outside my price range. That was also 6MT in the Soul Red color. A little more $$ but Chevy Cruze? You said no Euro but there was many Jetta's, a couple Passat, GTI 4 door. all on Cars.com Mini Cooper...

    Manual transmission used daily

'17 Accord 6MT, 2.4L, 500 miles on a tank on highway, quiet. Handling? Does my daily commute and road trips. You can get newer with 2.0L turbo but other things change (some body shape, LED headlights that don't melt snow/ice). I found that at least in the automatic loaner I had the center...

    Battery issue or something deeper?

Symptom on many with that. Won't crank. if you try it 4-5 times then it will crank and start but cranks slower. Happened on my '04 CRV and the '08 CRV. Easiest to change is by removing the intake manifold

    Battery issue or something deeper?

2.4L Honda - Starter's are known to go. Not hard to change, many YT videos. Get NEW one from Rock Auto not a rebuilt any version from the parts stores. Unless you have a shop by you that will rebuild your exact one. My daughters '08 had the same problem and my brother-in-law put in a used...

    Costco Tire Balance issue

You should be able to ask for as is status. If it needs to be redone then I would just go for the Roadforce at that time.

    Costco Tire Balance issue

When tech check the ones on my sons car first, all were perfect on the high speed balance. Good to check anyway but plan for somewhere that cam do that. Like mentioned, maybe try yourself first. Swap RF & RR and go try it. Then do LF & LR depending on that result. that should only cost you some...

Back down this road again: 0w-20 Civic 2.0 NA highway commuter car

That was actually for @NattyBoh. Try the ESP x2 0W-20 and get a couple UOA's at longer intervals. Use any one of the Premium Guard filter versions that fits and keep all the receipts. Worst case go by OLM with it. With 249k kilometers on yours that's definitely gone. Is the 10 year on the AC...

    First time ESP 0W-30 user

You fill it with 6 and the extra fuel in it from dilution over short time brings it up the other .13 until changed at 4k miles.

Are these spare tires actually better than the rest?

Not to mention MANY/MOST spares are underinflated or flat when people go to use them. Besides many here at BITOG how many people do you know that actually check them? I can tell you that in my small sample size of friends, kids friends, neighbors at best 10% check them or their regular tires...

    Costco Tire Balance issue

My sons car had a vibration when we put on the all seasons that it didn't have last year. My rotations are basically at fall and spring. I went to Honda dealer as they are actually pretty cheap and do road force balance. One of his tires had 19-20 lbs RF according to the tech but others were...

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

Space - more is better, 4 doors a must. Kids won't get smaller. When my Corolla got totaled the Sonata was MUCH nicer for doing anything and my kids were young still. Had that long enough for them to learn to drive on. The Jetta would be the smallest I would look at unless you plan to replace it...

Back down this road again: 0w-20 Civic 2.0 NA highway commuter car

And do you have an extended HondaCare or other? What are warranty terms now including power train separate? USA most are 3 year / 36k miles basic but powertrain is 5 year / 60k miles. My Pilot has extended HondaCare for 8 year / 120k miles.
