    TiGeo has a new knee

excellent alignment with the new knee.. looks like you had a great surgeon! (y) did you have that synthetic coating that promotes natural bone grafting? I know they use it for hip implants.

wow that does suck.. hopefully you get them to cover that under warranty. (y) the big question is, ok they replace/pay for a new transmission, what's been fixed on the replacement so it doesn't fail the same way again?

sure my story was a little off topic but it does apply to other parts in automotive production. Just fill in the blank for any part and it's the same story. Make it as cheap as possible which is where quality fails, and charge top dollar. wash.. rinse.. repeat...

    Anker 10k power bank recall

wow thanks for that info, that's crazy. It seems it's always around being on a plane, could it be the pressurization of the cabin that's causing these Li-Ion packs to short out? Makes sense, pressure building up on them. I think there was a Samsung tablet that was banned on flights, think it...

Friend of mine was an engineer at Ford, new to Ford at the time. He was at a meeting about the, then new "drive-by-wire" design throttle body. Engineering was having a difficult time getting the ball bearings that drove the throttle plate from wearing out early. They could only get it to last...

    Anker 10k power bank recall

seems like the quality of some power banks and batteries are not high quality lately. I always thought the "green push" only had to do with the color of money!

    Anker 10k power bank recall

I get emails from the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission).. Looks like another Anker power bank recall, this time it is the Power Bank 10k, model A1263. Here's the link to CPSC for anyone wanting more details if you have one of these units...

    Honda - rocket test

I just found this info.. Honda looks like they've been working on a reusable rocket that takes off on its own, then lands itself with retractable landing legs. In the test it landed within 15 inches of the target. I know SpaceX has been working on this too but looks like Honda made it look...

    Aged Spares, Options?

on mine and my friend's cars we've already replaced the spare tires with new ones. It's like that saying it won't rain if you bring an umbrella! So I played the odds having a new spare tire and not needing it, since the original was almost 20 years old!

    Bought a Cheap Accord

thanks for the update! sure looks like whoever was doing maintenance was using an SAE sized socket/wrench on a metric drain bolt head. Good to hear that it still had enough meat on it to be removed. Nice update! (y)

    2023 Mazda CX-9 Sparkplugs

no I don't have Ruthenium plugs, you could take a multimeter, set it to ohms and measure the resistance if your daughter isn't too far away to test it, or she could if she had a multimeter. You measure between the top electrode (above the white porcelain) and the center electrode. I just...

    2023 Mazda CX-9 Sparkplugs

Thanks for the info about BMW.. It's a very cool idea that I discovered looking at the plugs on the SkyActiv engine design. Luckily Mazda was more forgiving with their design having aftermarket plugs work normally.

    2023 Mazda CX-9 Sparkplugs

I ran into this with my friend's 16 CX-5. Here's what I found.. Mazda's plugs are much more expensive than the NGK aftermarket. Yes NGK was what was installed at the factory. In the service manual, Mazda talks about making sure the resistance is between a certain value. Why? Because Mazda...

Strange problem. Front end wobble after backing up a long distance. 2006 V6 Accord.

Great work, wow look at that rust, that old axle was gone. If that Cardone axle doesn't work well, I'd suggest contacting Marty at Raxles.com I had him send me half-shafts for my 96 Civic, excellent, stellar work! Nothing wrong and smooth. Just thought I'd mention it. (y)

Amazon headlights with Osram bulbs...a win

to jump off topic and let you know you're not imagining anything.. from my digging for info/research I did find out that for my 96 Civic, TYC was the supplier to Stanley who then delivered it to Honda. Yup, comparing the oem's to the TYC, exact in every detail. And.. the light output/spread...

    2016 Mazda CX-5 2.5L 70.7 mi; Mobil Adv Full Synthetic 5w-30 2.3k mi

nice idea about the 0w-40, I was already thinking of a 0w-30, to put up with the thinning of the viscosity! I've seen metals on this engine a lot worse than this.. It's why I wasn't too worried about the fuel dilution. I just keep thinking it's the short trips causing it. Plus it was winter...

    $2.50 for pump air?

This reminds me the very last time I ever tried to use any of the public air pumps (free or $$$).. I tested the free pump (at a tire store) and all it did was spray water out of the hose! ouch! imagine inflating THAT into your tire?! That's when I got a portable inflator, first one was from...

    2016 Mazda CX-5 2.5L 70.7 mi; Mobil Adv Full Synthetic 5w-30 2.3k mi

This is from a recent oil lab test for my friend's 2016 Mazda CX-5. The original test #1 was from the previous owner before my friend bought the vehicle. Have no idea what oil was used but thinking it was 0w-20. I switched them over to using M1 Adv Full Syn 5w30. They also had the oil for...
