Technically there is no reason any viscosity that flows won’t work. Sure a 40 has a bit higher viscosity at 100°C but the valve train would be just the same with a relatively thinner viscosity oil at say 60°C or whatever temp the viscosity is the same as the SAE 40 oil. Think about it. And yes...
