I think the best remedy for fuel dilution is more frequent oil changes, with a switch to a higher viscosity oil. Using a top grade oil certainly isn't going to hurt anything. But it won't replace the need for more frequent OCI's

My 2018 Camry has that same access cover. It's very easy to over tighten the screws, and strip them out. NEVER use a power driver to tighten them. Do it by hand using a 10 MM nut driver. And just lightly snug them up. There are only 4 screws. They won't vibrate loose.

If you are going to go to the "quick lube" places, that is exactly what I would do. They can't wreck what they can't handle. They're hard enough on drain plugs.

You can also use something like this. But I think you're asking for trouble... Especially if you have an older water heater. That thing banging around in there could do more harm than good.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Give it the oil treatment. (Nice big deep holes), filled with old oil. Then set that puppy on fire. Some kerosene or gas all over the outside will help get things going. P.S. Use 0W-16. At least it will be good for something. (y)
