    Low recoil 00 buckshot suggestions

Do your research. Plenty of gelatin tests on Youtube. Don't discount #4 buck at conversational range. Buckshot can be found around here, almost at any corner store, for a reasonable price. Shop around, and if you find some you like see if you can save up and purchase in bulk.(But that goes for...

    New direction with oil changes

Sounds like a good plan. Some folks might complain with using 10w40, but you won't hear a peep out of me. At 325k miles you've done something right, and any clearances that you have had probably opened up a long time ago. I doubt you will be able to tell a difference between it and 5w30 unless...

AMSOIL Synthetic Firearm Lubricant and Cleaner

I gotta agree with Pablo on this one. Store fronts cost money, Rent, keeping those shelves full and a knowledgeable staff is a HUGE cost. Then there is maintaining the warehouses between the storefront and the manufacturer. All that gets added to the bottom line. Or you have the internet. The...

    Starter Issues

I went and picked up some CRC electrical connection cleaner. So far the 2x I've started it today it's been ok. I'm letting it cool off before I begin pulling it all apart and cleaning it. We'll go from there.

    Starter Issues

2004 Nissan Xterra V6 I replaced the starter 2 years ago and it died last night on my wife at the grocery store. She tried jumping it without success. Due to a late shift last night I couldn't get to it this morning, but I got it to start by tapping the starter with a hammer. So I got it home...

    my brigs hates synthetic

    Young people and technology

I have a friend who was driving a New 2014 BMW M3 when he was involved in a small overlap head on collision, both cars were traveling around 55 mph down a back road. The M3 did what it does and performed miraculously in saving his life, although it took him 18 months to walk again. The 20 year...

+1 for baking soda. Lots and lots of baking soda.

Which buffing compound for L6 knife?

What are you trying to accomplish? L6 is amaizingly tough, and abrasion resistant, it wont hold an incredibly fine edge like some other knife steels, but it will survive abuse like little else can. I kick myself for passing on purchasing a L6 tomahawk built from a Jackhammer bit from a smith...

    Advice on a Fix

+1 for pop rivet Or epoxy and pop rivet. Doesn't even have to be a tough piece of metal. You could probably do it with an aluminum coke can. If it wore out the replacement would be cheap enough also. Just drill out the rivets and do it again.

Why Home Solar Panels No Longer Pay in Some States

Solar panels have only paid with a large subsidy. I have a coworker who worked for 2 years as a sales person for a Solar Panel manufacturer. He kept encountering VERY EDUCATED consumers who would ask him questions about being "green" that he couldn't answer, and they'd then provide him the...

    Clean battery with garden hose?

I typically take a large cup of warm water and put a few spoonfuls of baking soda in it. Stir it up, wait 10-15 minutes for it to dissolve as much as possible. Then I go out and dis connect the battery and slowly pour the alkaline water over the acidic everything. I make sure to hit the cables...

Schaeffer 0132-023S Moly EP Oil Treatment

Give it a shot. I've used it in the past. Really good AW additives, not much moly. Use google, better than the site search. Several discussions on this product should pop up.

Looking for a high caliber semi auto rifle

Speaking of "Weapons" that have become Sporterized. I have a 98k Mauser with an old Weaver scope that the crosshairs in the reticle are so small they are difficult to make out. Sombody did a nice job sporterizing it putting on a high comb monte carlo style stock and a scope and mount. The...

Why does heavy equipment cost so much?

I remember back when I worked for Citigroup looking at a loan for a small bulldozer. $230,000 doesn't get you much. It's all the hydraulics. They aren't cheap to build, cheap out on hydraulics and learn quick, and they are labor intensive to build.

Looking for a high caliber semi auto rifle

If I was looking into a Semi Auto for Deer Hunting that was "high caliber", or from what I gather a .30 caliber, I'd look into all the AR-10s that are coming out. I'm not sure I'd choose .308, as I'm a big fan of both .243 and .260, but for the purposes of bulk ammo and plinking .308 can be a...

Oil bypass micro-filtration: school me please

Pretty much you tap your oil line somewhere that's relatively high pressure, Then you have the oil redirected to the filtering systems that you choose that are extremely fine. Then you have the oil returned to a low pressure area, such as a oil fill on your valve cover. The overall idea is for...

Toyota put 0W20 in my 4Runner instead of 5W30

0w20 is very good stuff. I'd drive it for 3000 miles and see if I liked it. Unless you are towing it shouldn't be an issue, and if you were towing I'd tell you to take a look at your coolant and Transmission service intervals first. If you don't like it in 3000. Change it out.
